Should always be one finger. I raced motocross bikes for years and only ever used one finger. I ride trials and xc with one finger. If it's hard work or your brakes don't seem as efficient with one finger, then it's brake quality or (more usually) brake set up.
same here i raced motocross for years and am now doing xc and downhilling and always use my middle finger which seems strange compared to everyone else :/

Ooh-err matron!
hahaha how did i not realise that when i wrote it :$

Does anyone just use your middle finger for braking? my index finger gets tired really quick so i don't use it and use my middle finger instead

first and foremost you need to be good enough, then just get riding videos out on you tube and just get your name out and about to atract interest

I'm guessing it was probably me you saw, as there's not many of us left in Louth! I mostly ride here, occasionally Skeg or Clee, but I never really have the time to justify driving there.
I like riding at what used to be the Browns MG/Rover garage (next to Londis) before they knocked it down, that's a good place for beginners.
Then there is also:
- The Cattle Market (really good for beginners)
- The Bus Station
- What used to be Quicksave carpark
- The Hospital has some good stuff too, if you enter it and head right immediatley, it will take you to some walls and gaps.
- The walls and steps around Kai's Bar (Wetherspoons now)
- The back of the building to the right of the police station (I think its social services, I've never paid attention)
- If you want to practise on some pallets, we used to go to Eastern Box on the industrial estate, just make sure you put the pallets back when you're finished!
I can't think of anywhere else right now. Mostly just ride what you find! Its how we discovered most of those spots.
If you ever see me out (purple brakeless 24") feel free to come say hello.
cheers for that, to be honest i don't think it was you but it is good to hear from as many people as possible, I am going to start by practising at home but hopefully start heading out to ride in the next few weeks, hopefully i will see you out sometime
- The Cattle Market (really good for beginners)

I remember i have noticed someone from louth on the forum, I am just starting out to ride and was wondering where you ride in louth itself or do you just travel elsewhere? cheers
-
I don't have any just yet, it was dark when i got home so i will get some after work tomorrow when i get it out to see if i can learn to balance on the back wheel haha
-
Just been out and got my first bike tonight and have realised how long it is going to take to do the simple things but i will enjoy the bike time and im sure i will be uploading videos to show you all how im getting on
-
I hope not im 22 and only just getting into it

Thought it would be a good idea to get to know where people are from, and see if there is anyone local to meet up and ride.
I'm from louth in Lincolnshire if anyone is close by let me know as I will be starting riding soon and its always more fun riding with someone than alone

cheers, i had a look on pinkbike and couldn't really find anything, but i don't have much of a budget to play with. I think ebay will be the best place atm before i go and spend loads, deffinitely not wanting new
