  1. f**k me that's beautiful. With regards to power, look into LS engines - it's a common swap in the US but then they put it into everything with four wheels. Perhaps some sort of BMW engine, maybe the S54 from the E46 M3? That's almost as high revving and has lots more power so shouldn't ruin the character of the car. There's bound to be bags of room for it and the weight distribution shouldn't be impaired too much.

I would love to do a k20/k24 swap, me and my dad may be building an engine soon. but this being my daily I can't have it off the road too long.

  2. Only reason I still come here from time to time is this thread. good stuff as usual!

Went to a meet a few weeks back and someone who can use a camera took this of mine:

I wish it was faster though, only real option is a supercharger or turbo, its already highly strung motor n/a and getting more out of it n/a is very expensive, though so is going FI, but big numbers are possible with stock internals :)

Got this week off work so I will be changing the engine/gbox/diff oils, spark plugs and carrying out valve adjustment.
Grease up the brake caliper sliders, paint the rocker cover in grey and some touch ups to paint in the engine bay.

  3. Looks nice. How do you find it relative to your Civic type-R? Obviously it has advantages of roof-down/ RWD but I mean in terms of noise / drama / how much of an event it is to drive etc?

Standard car isn't noisy has the normal Honda squeaks and rattles lol, on standard suspension the s2k was a bit crashy, didn't take the bumps well and had pretty bad rear bump steer due to the crap rear toe arm design, I didn't have a lot of confidence in the car, it felt like if the back end were to break you would be facing the other way a split second later.

A lot of the suspension issues were mostly corrected in the facelift.

The civic is far safer and easier to drive, fwd and having a lsd(that I fitted) means you can put the power down so early in a corner without being afraid of spinning out.

Though driving the S is far more satisfying and fun for me, 10x better than my civic! and with the current mods is silly in the corners, better than the civic now, I just need to learn to be a better driver.

At some point I will be getting a hardtop :)

  4. The s2k as it stands now, only had it a few months now.
Coilovers, rear toe arms, steering rack spacers, 17x9 +45 rpf1's in sbc coating wrapped in Federal RS-R's and a Invidia exhaust.
Handling is pretty epic now, no more rear end bump steer or twitchyness, the rear end is very progressive and controllable, love it!

  5. Toby, 20mm hubcentric spacers are about £50. By the time you've got 2 lots of spigot rings, you're probably looking at £20. Its not worth pissing about with safety for that.

Ah ok, everything seems to be overly expensive for my car, they cost 130+ new for one set on mine and not alot kicking around 2nd hand

  6. .

Thanks for the informative post, would of been made better without the first line though. As stated, I've never used them and it was just from what I've heard.

Is it worth spending money on these pads if its only on a roadcar though?

  7. 20mm hubcentric spacers arnt cheap, spigots merly make sure everything sits relatively true, your studs and nuts keeps your wheels secure.
I personally don't see an issue, everything will sit snug.

I've not used ds2500's, but people say they need a little bit of warming up, probably best going for a cheaper option if its a daily and never track driven

  8. I'm bored so sharing another one of these I did a few weeks back, need to set up launch control, cold weather and lots of wheel spin... launching in fwd sucks... plus I suck at launching before anyone says :P

  9. Not 100% sure what difference my intake setup made by itself, but with everything done its putting 224bhp down on rollers...

This, precisely! And the Gruppe M doesn't even fit too well on an EP3 and rattles like fook!

Will head out and get some pics tonight - but have a little tunnel run, taken with the current spec.

Sound quality isn't fantastic - but you get the idea.

    ;

Sure that isn't 224 whp? either that or a very conservative dyno :)

My Tegiwa m (pretty much a gruppe M exact copy for others not in the know) doesnt rattle! though I do have some foam on the underside of the intake.

  10. I have a quick release boss, although mine's a driftworks ball bearing one rather than the splined type, so the locking is entirely positive, and it will not turn the column at all unless 100% locked, the ball bearings and spring loading system also mean it'll be longer before play develops.

Mines also a ball bearing type, you'd have to be a right out retard to not lock it in properly :)

  11. Civic looks pretty quick, how much power has it got? I seem to recall you saying 240ish bhp?

Amazing how you don't appear to have any traction issues in 1st!

Currently 249bhp, want to rotrex or turbo it next year!

It is actually wheel spinning abit in first, hence hitting the limiter, I think going from 205 too a 235 has helped the traction side of things though!

Would love to have the space to rip my motor apart like yours, good work!

  12. Sounds good mate, there surely can't be much more to come from the K20 can there? and I'm sure you'd love having some torque when you get a blower

You could still get more out of it, proper cam setup, ie stage 2 cams retainers and springs but your looking at 1k just for bits, proper throttle bodies, stroker kits/bore, people have got 300bhp++ fairly easily N/A if you swap the bottom end with a k24 :D but its alot of money!

  13. Lovely civic! I'm sure I've made it clear in the past, I'm not generally a fan, because most have a bean tin exhaust and not much else, and are slow, but that sounds lovely!

Friend of mine had one with a 4-2-1, catback, and K-pro which made 229bhp, I'm guessing your extra 20bhp comes from the cams, TB, and inlet? Sounds impressive.

LSD and a decent geo setup was the best thing he ever did on that car, transformed it totally!

Its pretty loud as my back box is a spoon N1, but it sounds incrediable once your giving it some!

Tb from what I'm told is worthless, even the drag car at the tuners didnt need one till 750bhp and only beacause they wanted a bigger intake pipe, 20bhp from induction kit inlet manifold and cams. Also the dyno it was on is notoriously conservative with numbers, they measure as standard type rat around 187bhp, what I got was pretty impressive on there rollers.

Haven't had the geo done since changing tyres, only done it by eye and set the tracking with crappy gauges, won't get it done properly till I get the gbox in as you need to remove the subframe so everything gets disturbed anyway!

    Greetings, that looks stunning!

  14. lsd gbox still sitting in the garage :(

Erm internals are all standard apart from dc5 cams

intake, 70mm tb, rbc inlet manifold, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold 2.5inch catback system and kpro ecu.

  15. My car as it currently looks, front bumpers need repainting, need to roll/flare the front arches slightly! due tot he fact im running 235 tyres and 10mm spacer on the front and 5 on the rear!

Also looking to fit a full polybush kit, roll center adjusters and thicker rear anti roll bar.

Rebuilt a gbox and put an lsd in it, waiting to get a new clutch/flywheel then I can finally go forced induction! currently at 248.7bhp N/A :D

  16. From personal experience certain pads work well with some rims and crap with others, you need to find what works for you.

Also did you grind the rim then fit the tyre? as stuff from the tyre gets on the rim which doesn't help, always try to grind with the tyre already on :)
