This is what I've done the last couple of weeks. I've gotten as far as this:
http://videos.mtb-news.de/42736/up_to_front_practice
Probably not as high as one should jump when practicing this move* but I think moving up a palllet every other month or so will bring some results.
Right now I'm at a point where I still have to visualize the move before doing it so that the technique still isn't quite right. For example, I should lean more over the handle bars. I think it's like everything else in trials. Practice x1000.

Niconj what bike is that you are using

Yes I see what you're saying ,its a kind of variation on a themeFrom what I've seen in videos, most of the 26'' riders lift the front wheel already with the lazy foot quite a bit.
-
Ok cool thank uPretty close to vertical, but I don't really focus on that so much.
-
Ok tthanks , when you are about to take off should the bike feel like its about verticalI Cant emphasise the "tuck the shoit" out of it bit enough Try and bring the tyre to your Arse
-
Which is more for 20'' riders than 26'' but it still helps...
[/quofferencete] What difference with the 26in do you think
-
Thanks for the vid ,I def don't get the bars near to the hips !!
-
Hi there, just to ask any advice on getting to the full extension in a pedal up . I get to about half way and cant get the lift up in the final bit , thanks
-
Has it hard a lot of use? All parts do eventually wear out or brake.
Check this out http://www.trashzen.com/trash.php
Hi ,its not had hard use just the normal ,I do understand stuff does break but you do get a friggin fright whn it goes though !!
I've broken a few of the Onza square taper BBs in the past - to unintentionally quote Tom Jones, it's not unusual.
If you've got the money to do so, it might be worth taking the opportunity to upgrade to an ISIS crank setup. It's stiffer and stronger so might be a good time to give it a pop.
Hi ,thnx yeh I will hve a look at ISIS cheers

The bottom bracket on my onza ska 3 and half year old bike has just sheared off . Lucky I did'nt injure myself !! Has any one had any probs like this ?
-
Won't be the wheelbase. It's on a kids bike, it'll be the bike, and you been a full size grown up. Try it on a full size geo'd mod
Yeh I'm looking for another bike now , but not sure what to go for !!
-
I personally think a haggis did it.
Haggis to small to get away with this one !!
-
Just one of them things where you need to start small and build your way up. I sometimes go past a small fence I used to try and half pedal "back in the day" and really struggled with and it's not even knee height!
Remember it's not just the kick that's giving you the lift to get onto the object, when you lift the front wheel with your bad foot you should be leaning back and preloading ready to jump up with the kick. I find the technique for this is best learnt doing bunnyhops to rear on things then when you haven't got the room to get a decent runup you use a half pedal to achieve the same power and speed you need. If you get me??!!
Yes thanks I see what you're saying. What is the best sequence of learning ,is it b/hop side/hop pedalup ?
-
You want to start the move on your weak foot to lift the front wheel then kick with your strong foot when you jump.
Yeh ok , but just not getting much lift of the kick . Is it a timing thing ?
-
Yes ,pedal up to back ..
-
Hi ,any tips on doing zap tap to back, just to get the back wheel going up .Also is it best to start on the weak foot and roll up or be static and on your strong one , hope that makes sense !!

That's probably because you spend more time doing pedal-ups though? The feel of bunnyhopping a trials bike is totally different to bunnyhopping anything else, and that seems to be the main stumbling block people have when they learn them. They're very two-stage on a trials bike, in the sense that you really have to lever the front end up and get it quite high before you can really put in the second part of the hop, whereas on a BMX/MTB/24 they tend to be a lot more fluid. I used to really struggle with them on my mod then the feeling/technique kind of clicked one day and I was able to improve the height I got drastically in a pretty short space of time.
In very much related news, mods + no bunnyhops = doing it wrong

So in effect are you saying I should be able to bunnyhop my onza ska ,because I can't even get the front up hardly at all !!
-
It should make it a lot easier on back wheel so deffinatly easier for pedal kicks if that's what you mean ?
Yes ,thanks ..
-
Hi , just wondering how much difference would a set of light forks make for pedal up , and going up stuff .
-
For starting off something like an onza bird should be good or an onza zoot if you want to do street.

ok thanks

they are pure shit.
they are pure shit.
Yip would agree with that !!
-
Hi , I am trying to gap jump, and when I drop the front wheel a bit in preparation for the move I don't get all that much leverage. Thanks !!
-
Not really designed to wheelie, so much easier to wheelie a bike with a seat; once the front wheel is up you can sit down and it puts your weight closer to the rear axle.
yip thats what I thought,
