i got it loose last saturday. soaked the cog in wd 40, left it for about an hour. then i installed the tire back on the rim for added leverage. vised up the cog wrapped in chain (as pictured in this thread), and gave it a good yank or two. a weekend well spent.

any one ever tried installing the rear wheel on a bike with a front fixed cog, then trying to loosen the cog up using the pedals? sounds dangerous, but i'm running out of options on removing the cog. all this effort so as to replace a snapped spoke.
