  1. Hi, I'm Craig, I have been riding trials for a long time... like 17 years... yikes has it been that long? I am 31 and got back into riding this past summer after a few years away from it. got a Fourplay pro that I really enjoy riding and spending money on upgrading lol. I own a mini truck form Japan and live in Canada. about 2 posts so far...I don't spend a lot of time on the computer I'd rather be out riding. I grew up watching Martyn Ashton, Ryan Leech, Jeff Lenosky and Hans Rey. I really enjoy riding trials and its really cool that there is a sweet forum dedicated to the sport!

  2. The "proper" way to footjam whip is as you've said, forward foot goes over the frame and onto tyre and at the same time the back foot kicks the frame around. This is the BMX way and how it's done brakeless.

The other way (that 99% of trials riders do it) is to do a braked front pivot and then put the back foot on the tyre and let the bike swing around from the momentum.

I'm not a fan of the second way, in my head it's a bit cheating and is a shortcut way of getting it done. People seem to think that the end result (of any move) is the goal, but I always try to explain that it's HOW you do something that's as important as actually landing something (which is why goofy spinning annoys me).

I'm so glad Ali cleared that up, I learned the footjam tail whip the bmx way but after watching so many trials videos of riders doing it the pivot non hop over the top tube way I figured I was doing it wrong and started trying to re-learn foot jam tail whips, going to stop with that nonsense now and continue doing them the bmx way. Thanks Ali!
