  1. It is with great sadness that I am writing this post.

Sue Jones (DJ's Mum) has asked me to make this post, (she is unable to get on to the forum).

For those that knew DJ you would have known his Dad Charlie, and would have had the pleasure of meeting him on numerous occasions particularly on the memorial rides.
Unfortunately whilst on holiday in Teneriffe Charlie suddenly became ill and unexpectedly passed away on the 28/10/2016.

Sue welcomes anyone that wants to get in touch with her.

    *An update from Sue*

Today we have finally managed to arrange a date for Charlie's funeral.
21/11/2016 @ 12:00 at Trinity Church, Conduit Road, Abingdon with a get together afterwards at Abingdon United FC.

Anyone who would like to come along would be made very welcome.

    Take care
    Sue and family x

Might get 10% off if we book for 10 people or more, that's about it.

Cost would be more than anyone wants to pay - if you think they have to book 60 on at £100 a pop to cover costs, and there would be about 15 of us... yeah... £400 each. Plus we'd have to sort our own insurance, marshalls, medical crew, etc. Not gonna happen.

I was game for Curborough before but we unfortunately had the double booking issue, but certainly still up for it again.

  3. Nick, there's still space on this. If you want in you just need to drop me some funds (£45) and you'd be more than welcome (Y)

    Get it done Nick (Y)

  4. Keen to get over again for a ride this year (Y)

From reading that article on the BBC site again, the f**ked up thing is the way that the 'punishments' given to the guy driving expired a while ago. Obviously he'll have it on his criminal record, but the disqualification from driving and the 'detainment' ended a while ago now.

I know what you mean, I was surprised when I read it. I thought his punishment was much worse than that. It is sad to think he will have been able to drive for the past four years, aside from the criminal record and possibly the memory of his actions, he can live his life as he pleases.

    It doesn't seem right.

  5. Here's some info about what happened and why the DJ Memorial Ride has come to be what it is.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/3956567.stm

Since this sad day we have lost other rider's over the years, and so though this ride has always been to remember DJ, it has also become a memorial ride for all those people we have lost. It is about all of us who enjoy this sport, "our sport" to come together and remember all those great people who partook in our sport, who we would meet up with, ride with and have a laugh with.

It doesn't matter if you knew DJ or not, the fact that we all come together each year to show our support, shows all those that knew him that we all care and our thoughts are with them and anyone else who has lost someone.

  6. Must have missed that one. Link?

Yeah prizes are a large incentive. But the general attitude of TF is poor. Everyone is too quirky (for a lack of a better word) with each other. People don't dare step out of their riding group in case of meeting someone on TF who had a different opinion. A serious lack luster of group rides now. Proof is in the pudding or some shit like that.

People with lack of time. hah. Manning just had a kid.

I put the clip up on Facebook, it was a pretty poor attempt for an entry.

As for having a kid, Thomas is 14 months old, he'll be on a bike soon :D

  7. 7 teams, pretty poor turnout. But i guess the weather had a massive impact on this. Would of liked to come play, but didn't even know about it. Guess others probably had the same issue too.

I entered mine, but it had one clip combining two challenges as my partner was unable to film his due to injury. It is a poor turnout, though I do have to say that I don't think there's been much hype about it.

  8. Not at all, back in the day (here we go) there used to be a massive London ride every weekend - all it takes is a little organisation and willing, shame it seems to have been lost in the past few years.

Ah yes, I remember those rides. It was like that all over the country don't you know :P The key places for rides going on and getting a good number of riders were:

    London

    Portsmouth

    Bristol

    Oxford

    Reading

    Plymouth

    Birmingham

    Leeds

There were probably other locations too.

    These were good times.

    I miss those days :'(

I'll be coming along, possibly Sunday too.

  9. if anyone needs somewhere to kip the night before i can probably put up a rider or two...

Are you far from the event? I'm considering going up on the Saturday and riding somewhere, so would need to crash somewhere Saturday night.

For those saying about have far to travel, it's 235 miles from Bournemouth to Sheffield, and for Ross McArthur it's 255 miles from Glasgow to Sheffield at a 4hr 30min drive each. There's no excuse to miss this due to distance.

  10. Maybe, you never know when you're going to have to put up some extra people when Cap gets f**king wasted and turns himself into a dead-eyed Jack Daniels fountain in the middle of a previously 3-man tent though. Luckily for me, Anal and Bongo had a tent about that size so I got to crash in there too.

I only saw the state of Cap the following morning, but I can imagine it was a good shout to get in another tent.

    SHOTGUN!

You not gonna sleep in your car again? I'm sure I can sort something out in the East Wing.

If you are gonna do it, do it properly

That's just too far, or perhaps not far enough if it leaks.
