  1. Not trying to be funny but cant you just tighten the screw? Unless the thread is knackered or the lever body is cracked then it shouldn't leak?

Haha it's tight. No sign of cracking or anything, I'm assuming the threads are f**ked but they look alright and they were fine before I bleed them.

  2. The only possible way to resolve this would be to appear on some sort of daytime TV show, were people with these kind of problems have around a 15 minute slot to confront each other on a national scale - perhaps hosted by a gentlemen with a 'lie detector' in which all basis of truth is trusted upon, where there is no such thing as a false positive....

If only there where such a programme around...

This is the way too go. Fo' reel

  3. Hey hey, so after bleeding a set of old maggies I noticed it's leaking from the bleed screw at the lever *cry*. Does this mean they're knackered or am I being stupid?

I was trying to look for the "HEY IM A NOOB AND HAVE A QUESTION" sub-forum but couldn't see it.

    Thanks!

  4. I think that one is pretty much lobbocks as I heard it as 'By law you have to kill any englishman within the walls of anywhere with your weapon of choice.

    yayyy B)

  5. Well to you it may be worth getting a Pig, to others its not :)

I mentioned the SL because its relitively cheap, lighter than most, has sealed bearings and will last forever if you look after it.

The only problem with Pigs is they weigh so much and I found replacing the bearings wasnt easy as they are oversized so hard to source. For someone just starting out a pig will do fine. More experienced riders will notice the weight.

I mean totally up to you, like you said budget is important.

Hmm maybe go for the SL at a later date when I don't suck  . Will probably get bashed around a bit at first. cheers

  6. Umm.. Random list of good parts off the top of my head. Most (if not all) available from tartybikes.co.uk.

    Echo SL headset.

    Trialtech ISIS BB and cranks

Magura HS33 rear with a pad that suits you

Front hope mono trial/avid bb7/magura louise FR

Try-all front tyre, maxxis minion dual ply super tacky rear

    Trialtech bars

    Tartybikes stem

Trialtech/Echo forks (whatever you like the look of)

Trialtech/koxx rims on echo TR hubs

    Rohloff tensioner

    Trialtech chain

    Wellgo mag pedals

    Whatever grips/tubes

Thats a quick random list of a well specced but not baller as f**k bike. Others will have certain parts they dislike, some won't.

Have a look on tartybikes.co.uk and see what you like the look/price of. If you ring them they can also spec the bike for you.

Cheers thats great. Also what would be the difference between an Echo SL Headset and say an FSA Pig? Is about half the price and is it worth the extra?

  7. Hey guys, need a bit of help since I'm a huge noon and haven't had a trials bike in years.

I have the frame, 07 pitbull (yay) and need pretty much everything else for it! Need help with headset, bb (I assume ISIS) cranks etc etc

Unfortunately I'm not a baller yet so don't suggest £500 forks etc  Also don't suggest getting a different frame :P

    Cheers

  8. Whisper Quiet

The new Xbox 360 runs whisper quiet, allowing you to play games and watch films without interference.

Only real improvement I think. Why even bother releasing a new console when it's practically the same?

  9. Right I've only got one spoke to try this on, and I can imagine me bending it into all sorts of funny squarish shapes, so I thought it best to ask here first.

The plan is to wrap it around my axle, but I'm not sure how to bend it into a perfect circle ala this photo:

Is there any obvious way of doing it that I'm stupidly missing out on?

    Cheers

That is awesome, looks pretty cool. I'd imagine this wasn't easy, Blowtorch and pliers?

  10. I would honestly go for a full build second hand bike if I where in your position and could afford it.

For around £400 you can pick up what is the equivalent of over £1000 from a shop AND it will likely be set up with modern parts which you might not be aware of.

If you try to build one out of parts that are lying around you're inevitably going to end up with something less than purpose built

£400 is a good price. I see what you mean about it possibly not being pure trials but I thought the rear wheel was alright, Hope XC hubs were the next best thing to Chris Kings back in the day haha, I don't know about now.

Cheers, going to have a look at the for sale section.

  11. Hellooo Trials-Forum, I'm looking to get back into riding and just wondering where I should start.

I have a bunch of stuff from riding that might be a starting point?

DMR ex-alt frame, Manitou Black forks, Hope XC hub with Mavic D521 rim, Avid juicy5 rear disc brake, try-all bars, ac cobra crankset

There might be some other stuff lying about, so do you guys think I should buy a frame and build it from there? Maybe use old rear wheel and bars etc or buy a second hand full bike?

    Cheers!

    Josh
