  1. we offer a very decent service at my halfords, i'm quite happy with the way it's run, but our bikehut manager is a proper fan of bikes and he loves it enough to do what he can for customers, it's a good ethic and i enjoy it. but there are some clueless cnuts that work there too.

x2 i ran a bikehut for 5 years but now run a store any my only policy on hireing was that they 1.rode and 2.wernt a dribbler. it worked well, we done and they still do same day builds and repairs(parts pending). my way of thinking is that as long as you dont hired a cnut then you can teach them how to sell.

i was up a rocknroll bikes buying all the bits in needed to build a bike a few months back and they asked if i would be ok building it. my responce was "yeah, i work at halfords" >_< bring on the abuse lol.

and to the guy up a few posts "i refuse to sell" you wouldnt work for me very long i can tell you ;)

  2. about 2 months ago I purchased a Zona Zenith for the only reason that i was just getting back into trials after years out and didnt want to splash out mega bucks. im pleased to say that i'm absolutly loving it again and the frame is performing pretty well. front end is next on the upgrade list with some light forks, bars and a different angle stem. but at the moment i wasnt realy liking the colour of the frame so decided i would take it back to raw.

    here is the before picture:

first i attacked it with nitromors. what a painful way this is, the paint seemed to be nuke proof.:

this was getting me nowhere so i took it to a powder coaters to get it shot blasted. as they used steel shot they explained that it would have a rough effect but for a polished effect that i was after i would have to sand afterwards.:

    the sanding to aaaaages:

but i finaly finished it. its not perfect but wont matter too much when it starts getting abused.

  3. i have been into bikes for as long as i can remember and about 10 years ago i met a guy called tristan weech, who i believe now lives in the US, and he had hydrolic rim brakes!! i asked why on earth he would need these so he showed me, on thing lead to another - mbuk - tricks and stunts - trials kings - holroyd - craig lee scott - i was hooked. gave it all up for fast cars and fast women and now im back

  4. Very quick edit of my first day back on a trials bike after about 5 years off. The music was realy well timed with the video but after encoding it got all out of time. Any suggestions? Not great i know but got some of the basics down. The first black and white section was from when i used to ride.

please read the description guys before you post any 'youre rubbish' comments. ta. >_<

    Lawrence.

  5. fitted my one of these 4 days ago and it was very still. one turn in half a turn back and so on. got there in the end :-) realised i hadnt fitted the spacer for 68mm shell so had to take the damn thing out again. was easier to put back in second time around.

  6. cool. something to think about

forgot to mention. got a few goodies from tarty delivered this morning. one of them being the trialtech chain tensioner. MUCH better than the snapped onza fixed jobbie that i had. confidence has been restored in pedal kicks now :shifty:

  7. congrats on getting possibly the heaviest forks ever made

built to a budget, once i get back into it/IF i get back into it then upgrades arnt a problem.

stem wise, was recomended. seem to be getting along with it ok. you think too short?

  8. just a quick question peeps. what are your favourite bits of software for making video edits?

I put together a little video a few years back using windows moview maker and adobe premier. premier was pretty hard to use so i was thinking about using windows movie maker this time round for the whole thing. My new computer has windows 7 and only comes with windows 'live' movie make which looks like a watered down version of the old one i had with vista. its rubbish. any suggestions?

    Cheers,Lawrence.

  9. so 7 years after i stopped riding trials (still riding XC to stay fit) i have decided to get back into it. initialy i was shocked about how much trials has moved forward with all the components now trials specific and companies such as supercycles coming back with rock'n'roll and tarty bikes offering such an easy to use website and service. back when i used to ride we had to make do with what we had (mag 4 bolt mounts had only just come in :-) ) i think its brilliant that its much easier to source parts and advice now.

anyway, the short story is, i wanted to build a new starter bike to get back into it so made the 250 mile round trip to nottingham to see the guys at rock'n'roll bikes and didnt leave empty handed :-) let me know what you think guys.

and yes, i do work for Halfords, but im not a numpty like the rest of us. 1st ride out and i snapped the chain tentioner already. trialtech dual jockey wheel tentioner should be arriving today from tarty so i can carry on riding. cant wait. havent lost as much as i thought i would have. its just like riding a bike.

  11. hi guys, as you can see ive been a member since 2005 and havent realy posted much because i was always out on my bike :-) but mainly used this forum for infomation. in 2008 i gave it up and sold all my bits and bobs as i was more into cars and running a skyline when your 19 isnt cheap. biking hasnt left me as i now ride and aweful lot of xc to keep fit. the trials bikes ive owned were custom barrakuda starter trials bike when i was 15 and then worked my way up to various specs of stock koxx levelboss and then a koxx vinco. as much as i loved the look of the vinco i could never get used to it. after selling that i bought a mates onza t-master mod and loved it but found that i couldnt do any big moves anymore as the bike felt too small. few pics :-)

i have now decided that i would like to get back in the game for fun and fitness. as i dont have a great deal of money to spend i was looking as a Zona Zip from rocknroll bikes (super cycles as i know them) which is a mod for about £300 (views on this would be good, what do you think? i would put an HS33 on rear but apart from that keep it as it is for now). my question to you is that considering i spent most of my years riding stock and then 6 months riding mod is mod something i can get used to? if not are there any ok spec'd stock bikes going for that sort of money?

thanks for your time guys and girls. Lawrence.
