  1. Hello to all,

My name is Jake Miller, iam 19 years old and have been riding Trials on and off since the age of 15 with a few a mates from Street Furniture Trials.

I would have to say my riding style is rather streety mixed with conventional style riding.

I have ridden many different Trials setups in my time and i'm currently riding a Leeson clear 660 frame with Kona P2 forks, a Magura Marta hydraulic disk brake on the front, an Avid Ultimate with Heatsink pads and a carbon brake booster. I use Koxx Tryall Yourself bars and stem which seem to suit my style of riding.

Wheels i use a Hope Bulb on a Sun Rhyno Lite rim for the rear and the front i use a Hope XC on another sun Rhyno Lite. To be honest i don't like my Hope Bulb, it skips too much so i'll probably change it for the Pro 2 Trials hub.

I'm hoping soon that i'll be able to join some you lot on some London rides as i've never ridden Trials up there before.

Looking forward to reading your posts.

    Cheers,

    Jake

  2. but then if you watch bmx and skate vids, most of 'em don't wear helmets, perhaps for them its "uncool" to wear one but then trials still has that geeky stigma still attached to it though. i never used to wear a helmet when i first started out and i very rarely do now, but iam trying to get in the routine of wearing one.

  3. Is it though? Or is technique?

I think when you see people go big power moves, like gaps and sidehops etc there's very little physical strength compared to technique.

If you had twins that both rode trials, one went to the gym and one didn't. Would there be any real difference in performance? Hell, if you big and muscly you might even weigh more and making yourself at a dissadvantage.

You don't necessarily go to the gym to build muscle, you can go just strengthen what muscle you do have and build on stamina.

I reckon physical strength does play a big part really and in that i don't mean having huge muscles, you can have huge muscles and still not be very strong, its about using what muscle you have and optimizing it aswell as having a healthy diet is where you will achieve getting the most out of yourself.

  4. The question I think you're referring to was "how do I change the name under my picture"

    to which the answer is

"you need x number of posts first"

so the answer wasn't pointless now? :P

Anyway when people in nmc say stupid things, they can expect to get ripped. Like the lad who said "What do you think of my T-Vee....oh i wont give you the spec or any pics, but still do it...."

imagine if New members had to take a test before they joined......

i think the whole test thing is a good idea, it would certainly get me validated anyway, as im no doofus when it comes to intelligence and good common sense.

  5. heatsink reds are the worst brake pads in the world ever, dont even be temted to think about buying them(N) (yeah, worse than coolstops and blacks) and the worst bit of it is that i swapped them for koxx greens  (lush with a grind). But its not all that bad 'cos il be getting some toxsin pads which are like the best ever.

    Cheers lewis

lol your obviously an idiot then

  6. heya guys and girls,

just bought some planet x tickety boo grips and i must say they're best grips i have ever used. they're really skinny so if you've got small hands or like to get a good feel on the bars then they are perfect also they have a really soft compound so they are really comfy too and at £4.99 from chain reaction cycles you can't really argue! CRC

just thought i'd share my new find with you guys.

    jake
