As you may have read in my 1st post I just bought this bike in attempt to get "back into" riding trials. So I stripped this bike down to check over the components, everything was pretty good cept for the BB and cranks which were loose, the left side crank arm was near falling of actually. I had to bleed the Echo rear brake. I replaced the front Avid7 with a Hope Monotrial. It doesn't grab as well, I don't know whether it's the little bit of oil on it from manufacturing or the fact the BB7 had a 203mm rotor and the Hope had a 160mm rotor. If it doesn't get better in a few rides I'll purchase a adapter and go back to the 203mm rotor. The rear rim brake grabs something fierce.
So did I mention I haven't really ridden any sort of "stunt" bike in about 4 years? I've been rolling around on a nice big comfy comfort mountain bike, and Ive been spoiled by a 1000watt electric cruiser.. I've gotten lazy, put on about 30 extra pounds and lost allot of my agility. I got on the Zoo! and went for a ride down to the beer store (this is going to stop by the way) hence why I bought the bike. It felt good to be back on a trials bike, it was sort of uncomfortable but it's one of those things I have to get used to being on again. I rode for about 15 minutes just along the sidewalk scaring to death any pedestrians with the freewheel noise. (My trials bike years ago was built up of mainly mountain bike parts, so it was relatively quiet, this front freewheel is quite the change for me) I didn't really like having to lean all that way forward on this bike, but I kept reminding myself that once I am a little more limber I'm going to spend most of my time on the back wheel in the vertical position.
I expect my experience to better, it's minus 1 degree outside, and I'm wearing 2 layers of clothes to keep warm.
More to come!
