  1. I remember that ride, was a great day with some epic old skool steads.

Martin went back to S.A but did return for a year and a bit. Do you remember he had a really short stem and bars swept all the way back. He had forearms like my legs and just bunny hopped everything, even up to front lol.

  2. I'm in Maidstone and know that are are riders in Faversham, Margate, Gravesend, Folkestone and Tonbridge.

We meet up for rides every now and again, i pretty much ride Maidstone, Gravesend or head to Barrow Farm in Essex.

Just set up a group ride on here or ad some of us on FB

I'm Robert Larkins, also look for Darren Lee Hill

  3. In my experience, you need to be careful with having too many distributors of the same product. The company i work for is the European distributor getting X discount. We then sell to a Partner programme and they all get the same level of discount from us. It is then up to them as to how much they discount a product to gain the sale over their competitors.

As tarty hold the leading share of distribution in the UK, they will get a pretty good discount when purchasing components. If this new company starts up and competes against Tarty and taking their sales, Tarty may lose their level of discount as the value of their spend decreases. This could mean the prices going up on conponents which would be bad for you, the buyer.

The other fact is Tartybikes is now a household name. I know there are other smalled places selling some products (onza for instance), but essentially, Tarty will have the stock and be able to offer the best price.

If this new company does get set up, it will probably be running a smaller margin on products to be competitive and no business likes to do that unless you are box shifting product at a higher value. As you can see from the stress Adam gets, it could be more hassle than it's worth.

All the best to this new company, but think how the pricing could affect the UK market.

  4. I've reported the first post to the powers that be to get it moved to Trials Chat.

Bit more on pressure while I'm here- If I run my tires just hard enough not to get punctures, I find the tyres still bounce me around a bit too much, especially on cambered sections, so I tend to run them with a bit more air to keep the tyre more stable. Just preference really- I know people who have run their tyres so low that you can rim out just by compressing the bike with your body weight but that's just too low for me.

I remember riding Wheeler's 20" Zoo before he went to bmx. My body weight alone flattened both tires just when trackstanding. I think Mr Marshall is right though - it's personal preference but think about your style of riding etc...

Natural riders would run higher pressure (on average), side hoppers run little pressure (they believe it gives more bounce). Play around with a few pressures and try moves you would do on a usual ride to test (not just hopping on the rear wheel).

    Good luck...

  5. Hey Lee,

I was using 16/14 ratio when a rode it. I was also using a Hope pro2 on the rear and 74kings tensioner.

Never had any issues. Plenty of chain wrapped around the rear cog and no slap.

    Would you try that ratio?

I hope you're enjoying the frame otherwise.

    Regards,

    Rob
