  1. You're bound to find a local specialist of 'fasteners', ... you're after a "hexagon socket head cap screw" My local "Bradford Bolt And Nut" ... sell absolutely every combination of head/diameter/length/material imaginable See http://www.bbnonline.co.uk/online/NewBrowse.aspx?Cat=40201
  2. I guess it depends how good/advanced you are and what you're budget's like. I bought a second hand one off eBay for my 9 year old lad. It is absolutely perfect and does the job as good as anything else on earth. Yeah it was cheap. Yeah it does have magura HS11s which help. Yeah it doesn't have a 19" rear wheel ... so what! The wheel' round, has grip and you can get a selection of new tyres for it. Yeah it might bend if you leap off a 10 foot drop, but will you? If you're after entry level then GO FOR IT
  3. Rob, T-BAD - thanks, I'm not on MSN (yet) but I'll see what I can do. Telecat - thanks for the location of Addigham Moorside, it's a bit of a treck but we'll give it a try. Bucky - we're hoping to get across to Airevalley so we'll ask for Waynio if/when we do. Again, thanks all.
  4. Hi, Thanks for a brilliant website, the amount of info on here is incredible. I struggle to keep up, items are posted faster than I can read. I miss a day and there's pages and pages to scan through. Anyway I've been looking for local off street places for my lad to ride (he's 9, he's just starting, we're in Leeds). Went to the track at Yeadon Tarn which he really enjoyed. Checked out the Works (indoor BMX track in Leeds) but it didn't look too good for a trials ride so we gave it a miss. On Sunday we went to Shipley Glen, expecting to find lots of riders. He really enjoyed it there but we didn't see any other riders. Where abouts do you all ride at Shipley Glen ? In searching on here I've seen mention of Addingham …. I can find it on the map but where do you ride ? Are there any other recommended places for a young lad in West Yorks ? I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks. Richard.
  5. Hi all, Thanks for all the advice. Clearly there's confusion with the wider tyres and rim sizes especially 'cos I wasn't sure if the rims were original (bought the bike second hand). "When is a 20 inch not a 20 inch ? - When its a wide 20 inch!!!!" So I decided to visit my local(ish) shop at the weekend. After a few visits (in the end with the rim in my hand) we established that (as many of you said) the 20x2.5 Creepy would definitely not go on so we went for Max Daddies. My lad is happy and my wallet not depleted. Thanks again.
  6. WOW, LOL I really can't believe the amount of replies I got. You've given me plenty to be going with. I'm sure I can sort my lad from this. If I need anything else, theres clearly plenty of help even calling tartybikes (love the name!!). Thank you all.
  7. Hi, This is my first post so please be gentle with me :$ I've just bought my lad a used Saracen 2 Zero MAD (if that makes a difference??). It needs new tyres (they're bald and the rear one keeps popping off) and thought I'd ask for some advice. Which should I buy (He's only 9 so I guess the cheapest? but is that wise?) What should I expect to pay ? Any advice on where to buy them (Cos we're new to this I'm a tad uncomfortable buying unseen from the Internet - we're between Leeds and Bradford, West Yorks) ? The current tyres say 20 inch but someone told me we need 19inch on the rear. Cos the current tyre is 20 inch should I buy a new 20 or a 19 ? Do I need to measure the rims somehow ? The widths seem odd, the bike has 2.125 on the front and 2.25 on the rear. Are these standard sizes ? If I can't/don't match these widths, what do you recommend I go for and would I need new inner tubes ? Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks, Richard.
