  1. I found that Trashzen really helpful. The little video type things really worked for me. Have you tried getting hold of a copy of 'Tricks and Stunts' video? That's got some good pointers on all aspects of riding. I've always found that focusing on a point on the ground or a wall (like a tar spot or something) will help with your balancing
  2. Are any of you guys near Truro/St Austell? I'm hoping to be going there in the Summer to stay with a mate and want to bring bike and motorbike if possible
  3. To check if the headset is ok, I was always told to put the front wheel up against something like a wall or solid object, and then rock the bike. I've already done grease on tapers, threadlocked all bolts on the spider (one is slightly knackered and I think it may be this needs replacing) and wound the lockring up as tight as fook. I put loads of loctite on the BB last time I had it out and now it's really solid in there. I'm wondering whether the bb has gone 'dry' and just needs taking out and re-inserting with a bit of grease?
  4. I'm near Farnham, which isn't a million miles away from Blackwater. I used to ride up there at Bagshot Heath, which is the place they shot some of the 'Tricks and Stunts' vid. Doubt I'll be much help as I ride mostly natural, but I'm always up for a blast on the bike one evening
  5. Thanks for the help. Did all of the above. Couldn't find any cracks or anything, so I reassembled with a bit of copper-slip and tightened everything sensibly. Appears better. Now I've got to try and solve my creaky cranks
  6. Whenever I go for hooks or give it some welly, my headset keeps going tight. It doesn't feel like I've overtightened it though. If I bang the front end of the bike up and down a couple of times, everything returns to normal It's an FSA, so is this ok for it to be doing it? Should I just put up and shut up? thanks in advance Dan
  7. I'm pretty tall at 6 foot and I find mods to be quite uncomfortable as I'm always crouched over I've never tried any of these long mods though (GU etc) so I don't know about those... Ben Savage is about my height I think and he rides mod. Without trying to tell you which is best, I'd probably say a mod would be better for you at 5'5, but as has already been said 'It's down to personal preference'
  8. I think the reason I went off of biketrials before was because I couldn't balance it with my motorbike trials. A lot of people I know have given up trials at 16 or after 3 or 4 years or so. Like biketrials, improvement seems to come in stages, you'll practice for ages trying to make something work and then one day, it suddenly clicks! It's very disheartening. I'm wanting to have a bash at biketrials though, can I do club level using my current ACU licence? Toni Bou is probably the most talked about rider at the moment. A friend of my Dad's was the one who 'spotted' his talent and has played a key part in putting him where he his now. He also 'discovered' Loris Gubian who you might have heard of? I did the Hawkstone international, which I had a terrible day, and I do quite a few of the European twinshock championship rounds. I've also done a few of the single events - Beuvale en Caux, cingles, Bilstain if you've heard of any of them? Dan
  9. When I went to mine 2 years we went in Merc SL55. Was awesome turning up with the hood down, big v10 grumble....I think I enjoyed that more than the prom itself :$
  10. Nice frame but I can't see any REAL advantages of the swoopy chainstays. I remember they said something about being easier to get the chain off, but won't they make sidehops to bash really awkward?
  11. I thought the video was quite good, didn't like the music though, but that's difference in tastes. Not many big hop-ups or drops etc but your gapping looks good. I think you have to take risks if you want to improve. I don't know if anyone's considered that the guy might not be that bothered about improving.....
  12. It's a standard Megamo stem, but yeah it is too long really. It's the only way I can get over the short wheelbase though (I think it's 1030/1040) and it's not too bad to ride with
  13. Like the last picture. Would be nice to have that made as a sticker or something
  14. Just to re-introduce myself (I had a pre-members account here before but I can remember the name or password etc). I've started giving biketrials a bash again, I keep having long periods were I go completely off of the sport but I've started up again and am enjoying it more than ever, and find it is helping my moto-trials even more now. I've got a Megamo Equip 26", which isn't exactly perfect for my needs (I'm 6 foot and find it a bit short sometimes), but I enjoy riding it. I mainly ride the motorbike trials, I've done it for the last 6/7 years at all levels (club/centre/national and international), so if anyone is interested in the sport then I'm always willing to answer questions! Right, enough of my life story! thanks Dan
