  1. this is the same wheel set up i ride. perfect wheels for urban riding or natural.if you buy the xc hubs you still have the choice to ride discs or not where as if you buy mono hubs they have no mountings. get the rims in anodised version if you can, this helps brake power but wears off after a while so get the rear rim grinded for better brake bite. also get the rear hub with the titanium freehub, lighter and stronger.
  2. not my view completely, trials frames have evolved with the type of riding the pro riders have to deal with ie natural terrain comps and this seems to have gained a market for this type of frame. but this doesnt mean that everyone has to buy them. but ill still keep riding the same style of bike no matter what.
  3. excellent nice to know there are still people about riding older frames. instead of just following the norm.
  4. no way this is to dangerous if the crank or the bottom brakets is starting to round there is no way to actualy prvent it rounding completley. placing a small shim in it just isnt going to hold the preasure of you doing trials on it.
  5. go for the middleburns. i have ridden them since i got into trials nearly four years ago and iv never had any problems with them. get them in square taper because as the judge said there are smaller bearings which are easy to disintegrate under high loads(iv minced 3 on my dmr dj), unless you get one of those new outboard bearing isis bottom brackets.
  6. thanks but im kind of restricted to the new members club at the moment. tell him to give me a shout in here.
  7. yeah ashton said himself that there should be more older type frame around. there are companys out there eg. curtis and leeson that can custom make frames to any geometry you could wish for and there prices arent so ba compared to some of the pro models the bigger companys in the industry are selling.
  8. yeah i understand what your saying, my pashleys 2001 frame. im just trying to get my point across that theres much more than just your koxx or mbk frames out there. there are bikes or frames still around from which trials evolved.
  9. theres got to be more than me on here that likes the older form of trials to the new. voice your opinion here.
  10. doesnt matter what bars you have everything has a breaking point.
  11. cheers bud, will do. not into that whole uci style of bike thats around nowadays. need to reinvigorate the older riders out there or influence the new generation to come back to using bikes that look like bikes.
  12. old schools not about being smooth its about having a normal looking bike but you are able to use it to traverse difficult objects, becoming smooth takes time. iv been riding for 3 and a half years now and im still learning new moves and improving my style. should maybe have a video for you in a couple of weeks.
