  1. >_< that came out seeming ruder than it should have... when I said "just re-read" I meant I just re-read it, not that you should.

What settings did you use? Maybe someone else will know better.

.vro: never heard of it. It won't be the same as .vob See if you can just rename .vro to .mpg or .mp2 , or as you say, drag the .vob into the editor.

    It's a four-pin-to-six-pin connector.

Picture of the four pin one:

  2. EDIT: This post is a mess. I would delete it, but I was trying to be helpful. Ah,well.

Firewire should work, if the hole is there in your camera for it. Find out why not.

Flask isn't a video editor if I remember rightly.

EDIT: just re-read your original post. You need to find out what settings to use, because it should convert it OK as long as you have the right software (codec) to convert to something useful, rather than whatever it is you're converting to.

What format are the DVDs you end up with? Can they be played straight away in a player? If so, then the DVD ripping software will get you MPEG2 format VOBs onto your hard drive. I've never tried to edit a VOB file, so can't advise.

Can you choose to record on the little DVD disc in different formats?

I would be interested to know if there's a converter...

  3. You haven't said how long the Ashton forks are. I could measure up either the disc only Smart Guys or the Fly Guys as fitted to the Onza Zoot (24" wheel in dark blue, four bolt + disc mounts) if you are interested. The Fly Guys are now one piece with the same top cap arrangement as the Smart Guys.

The black Smart Guys have straight blades but no rim brake mounts, the Fly Guys have rim brake mounts but curved blades (and they are dark blue, which really means it depends what else is on the bike).

  4. In the opposite sense to Marks observation they have a tendency to unscrew themselves, with all the tense and flex that happens as the wheel rotates.

I experienced that with road wheels, though.

Maybe you'd do better with smaller wheels, although I can't see why.

See if you can find anyone that uses straight spokes for an opinion? If they exist, that is.

  5. I don't know if this is 'messenger spam' which I have heard of but never experienced.

Try switching off messenger service? This is unrelated to Windows Messenger, which you might use.

    1. Start->[settings, maybe]->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services

    2. Click on the "status" bar at the top enough times to see which services have started

    3. If there's one called "Messenger", right click on it and stop it. Then right click on it again and use the properties to disable it. My own is disabled and has been for a long time.

Check what is started when your computer starts with StartUpList, found here:

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

(one or two other useful things there too)

And let us know if there are any start lines you don't recognise or can't find reference to on the web

AVGFree virus scanner is worth mentioning, as is ZoneAlarm (also free) if you don't already have a virus scanner. Although Windows with SP2 does have its own firewall software I still prefer ZA, having got used to it (no comments please)

  6. I need a new rear rim...

must be 36H and strong and not too heavy, but not a ryhno lite xl, dmr or atomlab

Was going to get a tioga DH, but can't get it in 36H

I have heard that the Onza Ronnie/Reggie are coming out in 24" any news?

been looking a mammoth dh's as they ain't too heavy in the 24" version

    mike

Reggies and Ronnies are available in 24". 36 hole, drilled.

  7. [checks own at home]

smtp.ntlworld.com (port 25) - would only affect sending mail if wrong

    pop.ntlworld.com (port 110) - the pop server

user name - just the bit before "@ntlworld.com", not including it.

password - well, you used it to get on your mail on the web.

If there are any error messages, let us know what they are. Someone might know better.

  8. You can check if the NTLWorld account is working by looking at your mail from NTLWorld -

    http://www.ntlworld.com/webmail/?page_zone=211.7.1

and if you can get at your mail through your browser you know it's the mail client.

With NTL the main password is the letter followed by about ten numbers (I don't remember how many, it's on that CD)

Try Mozilla Thunderbird, it's got a nice spam and scam filter when it's set up.

If you knew all of this and already tried it, please ignore this post.

  9. Don't even consider it.....stay well away from freaks like this! (Y)

Agreed, you can find lots of examples of this scam on the web. The cheque might even go through and the money appear on your account, at which point you may be tempted to send the bike and the excess money. Unfortunately the cheque is either fake or stolen, and the bank won't let you keep any money they might have credited you with in error.

So, if you've sent the bike and the extra money you lose:

    a.) the bike

b.) the original value of the whole cheque

c.) the extra money you sent (? I'm wondering if this makes sense. Anyway, trouble)

    oh and

d.) any chance of ever seeing any of it again.

The bank will want its money back and you might end up arrested for giving it to a stranger.

Steer clear. I think I told you this on a previous post too. Still, you could get them to send the cheque and wait for it to come back stamped "REFER TO DRAWER" - I've seen some of those on the web, too - but if you waited that long the person trying to scam you might get anxious and start sending you threatening emails too.

  10. Does the PC still give you the chance to go to "Last Known Good" when you push F8 when it's starting? Pick that if it does. You might get lucky.

Failing all else... if it's desperate, get someone to make you a BartPE disc, like Windows on a CD. Slow, but it reads and writes windows directories properly and you would be instantly familiar with it. I use one I made a long time ago, mainly because I haven't got around to making a more up to date one.

I haven't tried using Knoppix for that purpose, or any of the many Linux-On-CDs. INSERT looks interesting for what you'd need.

  11. I hope you get what you wanted.

I would love for you to get a bargain, no doubt, but once I tried to buy a webcam (nice Philips Toucam II Pro after some research) and Amazon had 'new and used from £19', against their ordinary prices of £38 and up from everywhere else. I bought one, and was very surprised to receive something completely different.

The seller had quite a bit of feedback, too.

On emailing the seller, he said I should read the description where it said first thing in capital letters 'NOT THE ITEM SHOWN (equivalent or better camera)' so this seller was selling something completely different off the back of what I wanted. I wasn't having any of that, so complained to Amazon, forwarding his email, and they did give me my money back after a couple of weeks and that seller's item disappeared from that webcam's 'new and used' section. The only contact I ever had from the seller was an email telling me to send it back to the following address... but then not including the address. Pity the webcam was a piece of shit. I felt a twat for following the automated process for buying an item, but normally I don't expect to have to read the description of something I am buying again (that's my excuse for not paying attention and I know it's not a good one).

Anyway, getting back to the point, if you don't get what you expect or it turns out bad in some way, complain by email to the seller, then to Amazon and they most likely will sort you out. Not sure about the postage, though.

My own experience was positive. Still don't have that webcam, though.

  12. A T-Rex? or is ther actually gunna be a 26" Zip which seems abit pointless with the T-Rex

It's not a 26" version of the Zona Zip.

I would direct you to HERE for the pictures (check the page after for others).

We did build up both to Woodstock spec and took them to Cycle 2005 at Excel, so a few of you should have seen the built up versions.

  13. Sorry, I was very busy today. I just knocked together a little drawing for you. Hope this helps. I did have a photo at work, but I don't always look at the forum every day...

EDIT: Looking at it, I think that should read "the 20" only sort" and for the convertible sort you need a longer bolt at one end.

  14. Check it out:

I looked in the help section and entered "retract a bid" and ended up on this page:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/questions/retract-bid.html

If you retract a bid all retracted bids show up just below your feedback (as far as I've seen). If you can get the seller to cancel your bid, fine, if not retract the bids (you have to, or maybe end up with enough unpaid bidder strikes that you might get banned.)

EDIT: and change your password to a much more unguessable one "j03_3ld1ng" with underscores and numbers and stuff, but that you can remember.

  15. You need to look at the T-Bird LE rear brake mounts to see if it is one of the sort that can truly adapt from 19" to 20" (there will be a little alloy block under the brake mount at either the top or the bottom). Picture tomorrow if I can get a spare moment.

To complicate matters sometimes people just attach their Maguras with Evo mounts, which fit across the entire gap. You might see what I mean from the above mentioned pictures, when I edit this and put them on tomorrow.

Some of the LEs were 20" only, although even then I heard of people putting the Maguras to the lowest position and running them (even at a slight angle) on 19" wheels.

Apart from the brake mounts the frames are exactly the same frame as the current - silver - T-Bird.

They are a good beginners bike (but then I would say that, wouldn't I ;) )
