  22. Hmm, I thought I'd post my opinions on wearing helmets. Those who have seen me ride, will know that I wear a helmet, and I have my reasons. Whats up with that? You may be the best trials rider, or the worst trials rider, it doesn't matter how good you are, it only takes one slip and your a goner. Your next ride, could be your last. You can always buy a new helmet, but never a new head. Us trials riders are usually law abiding in our everyday riding, and don't go out on our bikes to cause trouble with other people (unlike some of the people smashing windows and smoking drugs on street corners.) Sometimes people stop and chat with us and ask why aren't we in the skate park, etc. It made me come to a conclusion that if you are wearing a helmet, its made you think that you do care about your own personal safety, which means your are careful about what you ride on. You usually get the odd person come up to you whilst you are riding around, and says that you are damaging what you ride on. If they see you are wearing a helmet they'll see that you are responsible to think it through before risking your own head for damage, therefore they will believe that you are careful on obstacles that we ride on (not causing any damage). Trials is different, we are a nice group of guys, we need to change the opinions of the average -Joe, who believe that everyone on a bike is out to destroy things and create havoc for everyone else. I personally would like to see more of us wearing helmets, I wouldn't want anyone of us to damage ourselves from riding without a helmet. You can get Giro helmets as worn by people such as Craig Lee Scott, Neil Tunnilcliffe, and Martyn Ashton on the net from around £35, or you can get similar styled helmets in auto parts etc for £15-£20. If anyone of us wanted to get sponsored, the sponsor would want to choose someone who has thought trials through (wears a helmet), over the person who doesn't wear a helmet. If we want to hit the media, we want to change the look of biking for the public, wear a helmet!! what is your conclusion on us trials riders wearing helmets.
