  1. Yeah man Essex Biketrial Club just visit www.ebtc.net you will find all the contact details on there of who to contact, or just PM me and i can send you the details.

Although its called 'Essex' club we have probably half our events in Kent and 1 in Surrey as well as Essex. Our next event is in September and that is in Kent, a place called Cowden. I am not too sure if the area is called cowden or the venue? either way give us a call we will tell you all you need to know.

The next closest club to you will be the Crowthorne biketrial club based in Surrey but again their events are not always in Surrey.

  2. What a great weekend!

Good riding, good crashing, good comp, good band, good atmosphere, well organised and promoted, good speed trial, good kicker comp, good everything.

Everything seemed to run smoothly and there was no trouble. Other than the poxy weather Friday night which cant be helped the whole event was ace. Despite there bieng well over 100 riders i never felt as though i was getting in the way of anyone as there is just so much to ride there now. Its hard to think there was nothing there 3 years ago just an empty field with horses in.

I particularly liked Andy Chai's tent, the roof had a black bin liner duct taped to it i guess to hide a hole! Brilliant, you have spent too much time with Adam Storey. Speaking of which, good to see you there too Ad.

It was also good to see a lot of faces from the past, some riders i havent seen for years.

A big big thankyou to the Mitchell family and Jack meek and everyone else involved. I hope this will become an annual event?

  3. Thanks for the comments guys!

Adam you really do need to get back over here and go for a pedal i miss your spins! Are you going to Radfest?

Ryan, got your message about riding Lowestoft this weekend but i cant make it this time. After Radfest i will certainly try to allocate a day for a lowestoft ride as it sounds really good.

  4. I had been doing a bit of filming at Barrow farm before i got me new frame so i decided to make 1 video on the Triton now and a Rockman video in a while when i have enough new clips.

Most of the riding is on the old sections, there has been a big change around there now and extra sections built this will be in the rockman vid.

Hope you like the video, comments welcome

Filmed in 1080p but uploaded in 720 as internet connection is slow

  5. Hi guys, i have not sent in my entry yat as i was not sure if i could make it. Unfortunately i cant make this one, im a bit gutted as the venue sounds really good - and new - but i have to do a demo for Radical-Bikes. I want to support you both but i cant be in 2 places at once and Radical bikes is my local riding spot so i have chosen to support them this time. I will try to make all the rest of your events though.

Hope weather is good for you.

    Dan

  6. EBTC round 4

Radical Bikes - Barrow farm in Essex

    June 12th

The fourth round of the Essex Biketrial Club championship is coming up soon, June the 12th. If you have not got your entry form in yet then please do so. If you cant print it off or just cant get it in on time then just Post your name on here and or PM me with your details and i shall forward them to the trial secretary for you. Entry forms can be dowloaded from the EBTC website: www.ebtc.net . I am not the secretary this time, Matt Mitchel is secretary for this trial.

You do NOT need an ACU licence to compete, if you do not have 1 then a 1 day licence is available at a cost of £5.

As always we are looking for both observers on the Sunday and helpers to set out the sections on the Sataurday before. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dan

Mick and the Mitchel family have put in an awful lot of work and effort in setting up and running Radical bikes. He has had a crane in recently and moved around the rocks and pipe section. He has also re-arranged the area in the middle with the staircase and green metal bins and tables etc. There is also a new section - still under construction made up of cotten reels and i believe balance beams and pallets. I believe Clive Smith is helping out with this section so a big thanks to Clive too. As you can see they have put in more than their fair share of the work so please, if you are around the day before the comp, make the effort and help out with the section building. The more help we can get, the faster it will be to set up, then we can all ride.

If you are not so local, maybe make a weekend of it? You may be able to camp the night, but please call Mick first to confirm as i am not 100% sure on that.

Any help really is very much appreciated.

  7. I will be there.

I think you can ride without a ACU licence in these events but i am not 100% sure. Look on their website and you can find their contact phone numbers to ask.

P.S i have a spare seat if any of the local guys to me want to hitch a ride, prob will be about a 10a each for fuel there and back.

  8. I think Barrow Farm is amazing, it is now pretty much the only place i ride. There are so many lines there for all abilitys and riding styles i have never got bored. The sections are all moved around every now and then too opening up lots more new lines to ride. Speaking of which, Mick had the crane there during the week and has moved around the Pipes and rocks quite a bit! I believe there is still more to be done to the log section too and the Green drum in the middle of the field is also going to be moved in the near future.

To be honest i cant really see how anyone can not have a good time there. If you break your bike then the bike stand and Mick (The guy behind it all) own tools are always to hand to anyone who needs them at no cost. If you hurt yourself, all the Mitchell family are trained first aiders. There is a shop selling food, drinks and bike spares.

I can honestly say that if 'Radical-bikes' hadn't have been set up at Barrow Farm i am pretty sure i would have given up trials by now as i would be looking at a 1 hour or so drive to ride anywhere half decent. Street is ok but riding the same square walls for years would of, i am sure, led me to give up trials.

So to sum up, what i say is this,

Barrow farm has endless lines for any ability and riding style

It is regularly changed around (Twice a year or more) so it is always going to be different

There is a very handy shop - which by the way is cheap, where else do you buy lucozade for 80p?

Friendly staff (Usually the Mitchell family)

Tools and a bikestand and help too when needed to fix bikes - for FREE

If you rode Barrow farm last year or only rode last time there was a competition there then you will be surprised at how different it now is. A tractor and a crane are used to move the obsticals so even the really big stuff gets moved not just the odd pallet.

Really well done to the Mitchell Family.
