  1. Yeah, I bought a pair but funnily enough I needed a new rear brake for my XC bike (Been riding around with just a front brake for ages-scary!) Cool, I've been using a borrowed one for a month now and am used to the shape, but it is twice the price of Avids... Anyhoo bought them now
  2. Ok. just ordered the XT lever with XTR cable! Hope this is Good! (?)
  3. Okay this has been a mixed response, I think i'll go for the XTR lever! But could anyone tell me what is wrong with the SD7 Lever?
  4. Quite a simple question! What lever would best suit an Avid BB7 front cable disc? (I was looking at the Avid SD7)
  5. Cheers for the advice, reason I used copper grease is because I gave in and downloaded the instuctions from Middleburn! It explained about using Grease/Anti sieze compound-copperslip QUOTE:"To ensure the crankset mounts against the backstop flange, prevent creaking and is necessary for accurate torque to be measured". I used a torque wrench but the problem was without the grease the crank sticks, the torque wrench was "giving" way before the crank was buttted against the BB Backstop! With the grease it pulled straight on and then I torqued it up properly! Jjust have to keep an eye on it now!
  6. Brilliant, I think 1mm will be just right.. Many thanks, don't like spending good money only to have to hack and bodge it! Atleast that way, at a later stage I could re-space it back! Graham
  7. Cheers, The problem is sort of mine as i'm using a small BB (113mm) if I got the 128mm version i'd be reducing a 10mm offset to about 7mm which I think you'll agree is a hell of alot better! I still have a problem with the Rohloff. I've heard that you can pack out the jockey wheels with washers, the top one doesn't seem to be adjustable though due to the C-clip. Really I need to bring the unit about 2mm back toward the wheel. (At the mo it's just mounted without any washers).
  8. Right, sort of answering my own question! Middleburns ARE damn tight but they will go on all the way.
  9. It's weird! Could just be that the Burns are a really tight fit, problem is I don't want to just keep tightening incase I strip the thead or split the crank (Probably quite hard to do)
  10. Does anyone know the max offset you can have from chainwheel to rear sprocket? I'm having probs aligning both with my rohloff chain tensioner!
  11. Just got a pair of Middleburns and a Gigapipe BB (Splined), i'm installing it using a bit of copper grease on the splines and bolt thread! problem is it doesn't want to butt up against the BB "backing flange". Is it usual to see about 1mm of spline between the crank and the BB or should it do up tight against the BF??
  12. If he's used white spirit, then he's probably contaminated the pads (Gonna have to replace them! ) In future use Muc off disc brake cleaner , really worth the money and it doesn't really matter if it gets on the pad (Although try to avoid it anyway!) Make sure the piston is pumping out well, not sticking! New calipers and worn ones can stick so you will need to remove it, pump out the piston and clean it with a cotton bud and blood oil, then carefully push it back in (You may ned to Re-bleed) this should lube it up nicely! Nearly forgot, The disc should be fine once properly cleaned!
  13. Strange as Maxxis tyres are usually damn tight to fit! I take it you mean that when you pump it up, the tyre unseats the rim (pops out)? Check if the steel bead in the tyre is not split (You'd know because it would be really easy to bend the tyre!) Does the tyre bead have a kink in it? If so, using you're hands only try to re-shape it! This is a problem you commonly find with cheapy tyres/rims (Which you certainly don't have) and racing bikes with narrow tyres. Put a bit of air in then roll the tyre from side to side to re-seat it! then add more air! In theory Maxxis should be very tight!
  14. Many thanks! Shame to have it go to waste..
  15. I have a Planet X Zebdi frame and a Truvativ Gigapipe splined bottom bracket! To run a pair of Middleburn RS7's, Does anyone know if i'm going to be okay with a 113mm spindle or are the cranks going to clip the frame?? I suppose another way of asking is to say does anyone know the offset of RS7's (How much they rake out)?
