  1. Learn how to 'boon'. Basically hopping on the bacwheel without using the pedals to kick. I can hop forwards and off stuff without kicking the pedals. ^_^

    Like most trials 'moves/tricks' there's bound to be a thousand differant names for it, but I know it as 'booning' haha.

    Can you explain how to "boon"?

    I've never see someone doing it.

    I'd like to learn...

  2. SRAM cassettes have loose sprockets anyway. Pressure is not equally spread along the shell.

    They're are not bound together like Shimano does sometimes.

    I'll give it a try...

    I already have the sprocket. It's pretty thin alright. I'll check for the Trialtech Lite but it's probably hard to find in North America.

    I'll certainly need to upgrade for a steel or titanium shell someday.

    They must be expensive.

    Man... trials riding costs a lot. >_<

  3. Never thought about the spacer trick. It's a clever idea. It leaves you the room(1/4") you need to fit your top cap.

    The rule is the longer you keep your steer tube the easier it is to resell or fit on another frame with longer head tube(as previous fellow pointed out).

    A lot of people(including me) are stucked with forks cutted too short.

    I'd say never shorter than 7.50". They fit 120mm head tubes which are common. I'd go longer than that with more spacers.

    I have two 5/8" spacers on mine. So 1 1/4" total.

  4. Don't the front wheel gets in the way during preload??

    Do you need to get further from the obstacle or keep the bike more upright and be closer?

    I drop my front wheel a lot when i preload maybe my technique is wrong.

    EDIT: So static pedal kick is the term... couldn't be clearer.

  5. Yeah, i saw one for sale a few weeks ago on eBay. Custom made to Ryan Leech specifications. 50mm if i recall correctly. A bit heavy though at just over 4 pounds. Considering that some other Marz XC are well under 4 pounds.

    Freakin' nice fork. Went out for about 150$. I was tempted.

    A Marzocchi 4X World Cup looks interesting also if you can remove some travel. It's relatively light and pretty strong. But it comes with a 20mm axle.

  6. I met a trials rider who is using a lot of pedalkicks to step onto objects(instead of pedal-ups). I was surprised by the height this guy could go.

    I always thought pedalkicks were mainly for gapping.

    I was wondering how high you guys could go onto obstacles using pedalkicks.

    EDIT: Forgot to say by using one pedalkick. Positioning yourself still on the back wheel in front of the obstacle and pedalkicking on it.

  7. I became crazy and made myself little GIFs "a la trashzen" from the video, a long time ago. Actually made only two of them. One of them is the pedal up i was referring to. I don't know if i'm allowed to post it here due to copyright content. I don't know much about it.

    I'll stick with my current technique for now. There's still a lot of things i can to do to improve it. I need to get my shoulders over the bar. But it's kind of scary doing it on my bike.

    I think i have to slam these handlebar with my thighs... is that right???

    I should get a new stem(100mm) anytime soon. I should be better than the 40mm one i have right now. Especially that i possibly have one of the shortest street/DJ frame ever made. It's basically a kid bike... looks like a toy.

    This will also save my knees.

    Although i'll stick with what i'm doing right now, i'm just curious to know if this technique is possible. Pushing on both pedals like in a two wheel hop. It should give an extra boost. Should get you higher. I might be interested trying learning it(someday).

  8. Don't think i completely understand what you mean,

    Do you mean do you use more than one pedal stroke/crank rotation?

    He does that full crank rotation but he seems to level the crankset and extends with both legs. I was wondering if he was using equal force on both pedals... where i think i'm only using my choco foot to accelerate and extend upward.

    My pedal ups are going nowhere so i was wondering if it was because of that (improper technique).

  9. I was watching that Ryan Leech DVD... it looks like he's using both feet pushing on the pedals to get his impulsion. Like in a bunnyhop.

    I've tried it and it didn't go too well for me. It kind of breaks my motion. So i'm in doubt.

    Do i use both feet or one foot just like a "standard" pedalkick??

  10. I'm looking for lower back, back or spine protection. I've found some for motorcycle(Dainese) but it looks pretty thick. I was looking more for something that i can put under a t-shirt.

    As i've smashed my tailbone quite a few times already, this would be handy.

    Any suggestions?
