  1. i was thinking do you know the membership things you think it would let x ammount of tf'ers sign in and play on the one account because if so i'll set one up if any ones interested and dependiong opn how many will decide how much everyone chips in

  2. If you are looking for a decent, versitile, and not too expensive bike to learn on, i would defonetly reccomend the onza T-Pro. You can get them really cheap 2nd hand too! Seen as your 6ft then you would proubly best suit a long frame insted of short. george x

so why recomend the pro to him then?

imo get down to a group ride try a few mods n stocks but then since your a learner i wouldn't even think about getting a pricey bike just get a cheap second hand onza (t-pro for a mod or a t-rex for stock) 'cuz then if you don't like it you've not wasted too much cash and about the upgrading bit i bought my first bike trex (which is now for sale due to me loving my tpro) and all i've changed about it is a metal tpa because i f**ked the shitty standard plastic one :P a cheap onza will be more than adequate for learning on, but if you have the money and are set on buying a real nice bike go for it, but imo, onza, by the way this is not a sales pitch for my rex i just think onza's are perfect for leaners

  3. the water sticks can pass through other objects where the wooden ones will rest ontop of the item...

i dont get why you need the unpowered wheels?! could someone post a link to their contraption where they needed an unnpowered wheel?

  4. i think finding local riders would be the fastest way of learning but i have a little set up in my garden with a few pallets and i go on trashzen or another of my favorites biketrials.com then rush outside and attempt the move and when i can do it on flat time after time i introduce going bigger, just realize that it's not as easy as the videos make it look and you gonna be trying to pedal hop for months on end but without practise your never going to progress

  5. Well i used to ride one of those green LE onza t-birds back in the day, but was never really to good at it xD

Also i have about £300-£350 to spend and dont really know what i can get for that kind of money in both the stock and mod areas.

Theres a pretty awsome deal on in Evanscycles at the moment, the Phase 1.2 at £350

yeah but for 350 you could get a really good second hand stock bike or an awesome mod bike

talking of which the trex im looking for about 300 =] hehe and your validated now :D

  6. Ah yeah man, i was thinking it was more personal preference.

Just wanted to know how you guys made your choices.

Are moves easier or just as hard on 26". I would have imagined they were much harder with the larger wheels.

    James

well i went ouit on my tpro for the first time today and i did my first sidehop and a backwheeled up soemthing then when i got home i did the same on some pallets jumped on my t rex and it felt horrible i couldnt even gap half as far as i can on the mod

just found some old mod vs stock topics:

    Modified (20" wheels)
    • Pros:
      • Superb standover clearance
      • Easily manueverable in most every circumstance, especially anything rear wheel
      • Less expensive
        • Less parts to break
        • Nearly impossible to bend the rim of a well-built 19" rear mod wheel running enough tire pressure
        • Learn to sidehop up to both sides without worrying about a rear derailleur
      Cons:
      • Some people may think it's a BMX bike
      • A pain to ride more than a mile or two on
      • May be harder to find parts for it
      • Harder to roll down things
      • Easier to go over the handlebars (but less scary when you do)
      • Doing wedge or wheelbase moves is less comfortable
    pixel.gifStock (26" wheels)
    • Pros:
      • More stable
      • Bigger wheels = roll everything easier
      • Easier to do wedge or wheelbase moves
      • Easier to pedal-kick on odd surfaces because of the larger diameter wheel
      • You can ride to your riding spot easily (if you have a seat and working gears)
      • Looks more like a mountain bike
      • People won't ask you to "grind" stuff or think you do BMX vert or street
      Cons:
      • Bigger bike = less standover clearance = pain if you fall on the bike
      • Easy to hit knees on top-tube of most bikes
      • Less room to work with for bending down before sidehopping, bunnyhopping, etc. or when absorbing landings
      • More expensive because of greater frequency of breakage and more parts to break
        • Rear derailleurs - easy to smash into things (though most bikes have replaceable derailleur hangers that will bend before the derailleur is broken)
        • Wheels - 26" size = easier to get out of true or taco (20" wheels are extremely hard to ruin when built and used properly)
        • Chain can slip down or up a gear while you ride if your chain is too loose, or you smack your derailleur in section and break it
      • Heavier

and a linky thanks to benjohn-hynes

  7. 26 deffinatly! get your self validated and pm me about my trex ;)

seriously though im about your height and i love my mod to bits now thats why im going to sell the trex but i didnt struggle on the 26 for any other reason than it was my first bike so i think its personall preference for you it all comes down to what you feel more comfy on how far you might have to cycle try and get down to a group ride and see about just having a little go on a couple of mods nd a few stocks

  8. another downer i suppose, i mean it'd be nice to have it as an Olympic sport but no just no its such a small sport compared to things like boxing, if they considered putting trials in why not tiddlywinks or skydiving imo bmx racing shouldnt be in there to me the olmpics should just be

    sprinting

cycling - not including bmxing or trials

    weight lifting

    rowing

boxing for deffo and one more fight event like judo wresting or something similair but just one more

    archery

    and swimming

i think if trials became an Olympic sport the sport would soon become contaminated by a load of twats who think they know what theyre doing

  9. compared to other hobbies its cheap as chips, it's wayyyy not as expensive as my enduro but its alot more expensive than playing rugby but aslong as you are prepared to look after the bike washing it and lubing the bearings and stuff you can increase the life of your bike and make it last longer

  10. haha i thought i hadnt seen you post in ages, name change! widnes is alright if your local sorta thing, atleast theres not loads of security like in warrington, i was walking around with my bike trying to find somewhere to eat and i had two security guards following making sure i didnt go into the new indoors bit or start riding it :/

  11. so liverpool ride then, meet outside limestreet next week? will check the weather to see what days down for decent weather and also whos available.

edit - was forced to into warrington today it's not bad with all the new structures they've just added but liverpool's still much better but if anyones interested waza might be worth a go sometime?
