  1. it WOULD be a great idea if it wasnt air cushioned, if it was just a soft/medium spring style suspension without a damper then i can see it being good for jumping about with (giving just a little extra height) but that there seems too rigid, i didnt notice it doing much to be honest.... maybe the idea is just to cushion landings, and it will save alot of rboken parts if this is the aim but i reckon it can be adapted to work better
  2. tack on a bolt head/nut and use a spanner
  3. any decent disc brake i hate having ground rims but you know what works amazingly well? rubbing the rim down with a heavy grained emmery tape, give just a little bit of texture, and loads more stopping power.
  4. I was just looking through some vids and trials itself is anything but a "gotta look good" style of riding, its very much more about practicality... Infact the only time fashion comes into trials is when it gets a little more streety it seems... Or when the tart in each of us comes out and tells everyone what is best because it looks best... What do you wear to ride? Just curious to see whether or not the jumpsuit of the early 90's are still kicking about me personally for any street its converse (theyre flat), jeans (good protection) and a hoodie (for warmth)
  5. right dont get me wrong here, i do actually have some sense. when i ride downhill, its always a full face and shins, if i think i need it then the body goes on too. for xc its shins and an open style lid, for freeride its either the bmx style 'p pot' lid or the fullface (get a decent one and your not restricted, have it fitted/padded properly and it wont move) but for street and soon to be trials, i do not, and will not, wear a lid... i hate the buggars quite some... untill i do some damage i dont plan to riding through durham city/newcastle/middlebrough or even redcar... you just look and feel like a complete pratt. but this isnt my idiocy i reckon i concentrate better without the lid for jumping about, the things are just offputting.
  6. I adore diamondback and people hate them quite some, but im not sure any owner of any bike really goes through that much heartache having their ride ripped. a bikes just a tool to help you achieve a goal, would you cry if someone told you you had a shitty screwdriver and theirs was better? i hope not! the lad on the saracen has to learn somewhere and probably has a tight budget, so?
  7. again their low end bikes are heavy, as too are their dh but the rest are very nice and i know about the trial, i plan to get the rrp £600 one, kabuko or summit? ive been in touch with db about having a bashplate mount fitted into the frame also
  8. why are diamondback rated so lowly? ive ridden diamondback for years and other than the low end stock bikes (<£500) having the equivalent parts put on them (budget parts) the bikes themselves are amazing, ive ridden countless DB's and quite literally put my life on the frame of a couple of them... i can honestly say the top spec DB's are top class! are they just classed as a budget company due to them selling into argos etc, or do people actually find the frames snap like the rumours tell? Ive ridden the coil EX right through to the AXIS, over some pretty heavy ground, with only minimal problems on the coil (mostly weight issues and the brakes having faults (but blame Quad for that!) Ive also jumped the single speed lex (bloody hard to get hold of was that one!) and bailed with about 15' of air with no problems (to the bike!) except a brake lever bending and finally my babies, the downhill bikes... the xts moto has held up to everything ive thrown at it, and this is a cheap downhill bike, ive used ti for some seriously heavy work from freeride and downhill racing to dropping in of things and cliffs to 25' What are your true opinions fo diamondback and why...
  9. im looking at a frame that doesnt have bashplate mounts, reckon these can be fitted easily enough as its only really three holes tapped out... right?
  10. take up freeride i do love my freeride/dirtjumping and DH
  11. nope didnt cover it, im thinking about just lashing on a 26" fork... i'd rather opt for the 24" option.... anyone know of a 24" fork?
  12. the problem is i want a 24" fork of which doesnt seem to exist
  13. im considering knocking up my own bike based on a ciguena 24" frame, it'll consist of dual hydraulic discs and a fairly short stem and up/backturned bars... but im stuck asto what fork to put onto it due to a lack of 24" forks. i was thinking about a 26" fork and actually running a 26" front as this will lift the bikes angle backwards a fair bit, but would a 24" run on a 26" fork ok? im guessing it would but it might look a bit dwarved due to an EXTRA 2" clearance... any suggestions as i really like the size, lines and general geometry of the frame ive chosen.
  14. its not speed as such more, i donmt know how to explain it, the outside of an object will always make fewer rotatations than the centre, well actually thats not right either... the hub of a wheels alot smaller than the diametre of the wheel itself, therefore one is travels round the given point more than the other... i dinanr i cant explain it but the general idea is the centre rotates faster than the wheel. and i hate cables, they stretch, wear, snap, and slide far tooe asily for my liking... i dont see any advantage of a cable over a disc unless you want to hold an endo without having to hold the brake lever
