  1. On the odd chance do you or anyone you know ride a czar mod? Seen a guy heading back to newton on it a few times?

That would be me, not been riding much lately but would be up for a ride at some point :)

    nope its not me

    i ride an onza limey 3 (26) v2010. white.

ive been riding again for six months and apart from the odd kid with a cheap onza i havnt seen anyone else properly riding trials in newton.

If you guys are out and about the torbay area this weekend ill meet up for a ride. Ive never been to brixham riding so that would be good, also paignton riding was a long time ago.

Hey, think i saw you in courteney park yesterday? i was lurking about on a lime green mtb. Would be up for a ride down there at some point if i dig the trials bike out the shed (Y)

  2. I have an NS core, which is the same geometry as the surge frame, and love it!

I ride my local bmx track alot, aswell as the skatepark and have no trouble, then i swap the holy rollers for some gnarlier tires and hit the downhill :D

I honestly cant reccomend this frame enough, although my build is mega heavy, the geometry of a frame makes the front really light and it manuals like a charm.

Im sure you could get a fairly light bike built around the surge frame though, and im pretty sure the surge is lighter than the core in the first place :)

  3. Quick and cheeky one - Was raiding dad's old office earlier and there was an old PC he was going to throw out. It's about 7 years old so that's pretty much all it's good for, but I quite fancy just getting it working enough to rig to the TV and watch the odd film/play music from. It's certainly nothing flash, but the main killer being that it's got feck all memory; an astonishing 384Mb.

Firstly, am I right in assuming this is most likely DDR1 DIMM, since it's an old Athlon XP 2700+ processor? I'll strip it back and have a look tomorrow if I get the chance.

Secondly, is anyone likely to have a Gb or so of this knocking about that they'd part with cheaply?! :P

Don't really fancy spending much for a 'just in case' computer, so if anyone is feeling kind it'd be hugely appreciated!

Hey, not massively clued up on RAM, but ive got a few 1Gb sticks kicking around that say DDR. I assume thats the same as DDR1?

If its any use you can have it for postage and a can of monster :P

  4. well basically i have put a new trialtech chain onto my bike. it fits snug and everything but there is a problem, when i pedal it makes a noise asif its going to come off, or it sounds like the bottom bracket. but i dont

think it wll be the bottom bracket because it didnt do it with my old chain. it doesnt do it when the wheel is spinning with the freewheel going on its own. its only wheni pedal

    any ideas?

    please help.

    thanks.

I had the same problem, it was a worn sprocket causing it, so i recommend you replace yours. :/

  5. Pva and petrol :) and a drop of flour! Burns for hours and makes a good paste :) Requires smothering to be put out also! Water wont put this bitch out :P

Or polystyrene dissolved in petrol, makes a lot of acrid black smoke, makes more of a gel, and also burns the same way, for ever without being put out by water :P Water actually makes them both worse :)

Isnt the polystyrene in petrol how they make napalm?

  6. Have you got the chain uber tight at the moment? That usually causes 'graunchy' type noises until it stretches (or you knock the tension off a little).

I loosened it quite abit and it still did it, im wondering if its because its a new chain on a worn sprocket :S if it doesn't stop soon a new sprocket may have to be the next step.

  7. Hi, ive just given my bike a thorough scrub, and replaced my chain with the same again,

whenever I pedal it makes a weird clicky noise, is this just the chain settling in as I don't remeber it doing this when i fitted my old one :S

I'm 99% sure it is the chain that's making the noise.

  8. where exactly is botter rock? And also do i need another acu licence for it? Ive got a 'trials rider' licence for moto trials. Dont really want to get another for one comp.

You can use that one, i dont think they have a specific one for bike trials.

  9. All the snapped carbon frames i've seen have been XC frames and they always seem to fail around the headtube area. This would need beefing up, especially for trials.

I would imagine due to the forces of pedal kicking you would also need to ensure the frame takes into account the level of twist when the pedal tension is used to propel a rider across a gap.

Might be worth a look. Also, check out the youtube vid at the bottom of the page. It certainly made me smile :D

great link, identifiying weak points was on my to-do list, cheers :D

gotta be honest i wasnt expecting much when i started the topic, so thanks for the pleasant suprise everyone :)

  10. Ever worked with carbon before? it's an absolute bitch to get any kind of nice finish, especially around joints etc - from my experience anyway. You'll be able to make it plenty strong enough, thought about how you're gonna do stuff like the bb thread, brake mounts etc?

In terms of experience im goin in blind, im not too fussed about it looking pretty, its reasuring to hear that about strength though! im thinking about having an aluminium headtube and bb shell with stumps that extend slightly into the tubing to stop them twisting then just wrapping the carbon around them to create the real join. As for brakes im thinkin aluminium dropouts with a disc mount machined from the same piece as the left dropout, then join it the same way as the headtube and BB.

I know my description is awful :P but do your think this is a plausible way of doing it ?

Over size the tubes and fit aluminium shims where threads are needed?

Or you could have carbon tubes going into ally joints inc the bb shell? a la Koxx Karbon, but with more carbon...

lol, both beat me to it. :)

  11. Hi, basically I fancy attempting to manufacture a carbon fiber mod frame, as its the least boring thing i could think of making for my A2 product design project :P

and it could potential get me good marks.

I've got quite a few ideas knocking around, just wondering if anyone had any good suggestions / usefull opinions / experience with carbon fiber ?

( please dont just winge about how it will fail is this doesnt help make it any better)

  12. Bad news guy, The ability for members to generate activation codes is only available as and when demonoid feels like it (Im not sure what they base the decision on). just checked and your out of luck for now sorry. :(
