Magura hose has a slightly larger internal diameter than Shimano BH-90 hose (which is what comes stock on Saint, Zee, XT, etc), but the same as BH-59 hose (stock on cheaper or road/touring brakes). This means that with a Magura hose, you use either the Magura barb, or the BH-59 barb, and a Shimano BH-90 or BH-59 olive (these are the same). The BH-90 barb will be slightly too thin for the Magura hose, making for a less than perfect fit, and there's a chance you will need to tighten the compression nut a bit too much or get leaks.

    This is super informative. Thanks!

  2. What olive/Barb combo have people been using for their conversions?

I've seen people using Shimano barbs, but others have said magura barbs are necessary or there's a risk of leaking from the lever. Also read that Shimano barbs can go crooked on the magura brake line, but Shimano olives seem necessary to flush up against the Shimano lever.

Thinking about converting; my Zees have been good but lately have developed some sort of micro leak which contaminates the pads when the bike sits for a bit.

  3. Thank you both for the replies!

Aener, I was mistaken with my sizes - it is an m6 rear hub not a 10mm.

Sandbugg, I usually tighten the drive side tug first when tensioning the chain but find that the wheel doesn't stay straight that way. I checked the serrated washers and they didn't not have paint on them.

It sounds like my best bet might be to switch to a hope hub with the bigger axle bolts

  4. Hello,

I've got a relatively new arcade fuse, running stock trialtech m6 rear axle and arcade chain tugs.  While admittedly I'm not the smoothest rider, I've been having a problem where on some moves which place a lot of force on the rear wheel (drop gaps, bunnyhops with speed, etc) the wheel will slip in the dropouts - not like crazy, but enough to cause the wheel to rub the chainstay.  I'm tightening the axle bolts very tight, I don't have exact torque numbers but any tighter and I'm worried about thread stripping.

I'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem with the arcades, and what, if anything, you were able to do to fix the problem. I'm thinking about trying some new axle nuts with a bigger head/ more surface area.  The through axles on the fourplay are starting to look like a pretty slick idea...

    Thanks for the help!

    Brad

  5. Confused??!!

It has vertical dropouts and a mech hanger, so the mech hanger would be used to attach a chain tensioner.

Well, the pictures shown had no threaded hole for the chain tensioner to connect to. Stan informed me though that that was a temporary hangar, and there are also other ways to mount tensioners.

    anyways, thanks guys.:)

  6. wait wtf, brad u got a t-f account.

  7. Yah, My editing was horrible...I also have some pretty big ups, but didn't feel like biking too far away, this entire video was filmed In one spot, and its not really for beginners. The whole video was just because I was bored, and was like a 5 min editing job. Not bad for a first try, but nothing serious :)

  8. Hey

I am getting a new computer very soon and I am wondering about my Itunes- Is there any way to transfer it to my new computer or do I just have to redownload all of my songs?

    Thanks, Brad :)

  9. I've never found U brakes to be any good. My mate had one on his bmx, and he had a pretty decent set up, wasn't that great. Slowed him down and stopped him, but nothing more.

    What's your set up?

U-Brakes arn't very good at all  I have a diamondback bmx, and I use it for street stuff, but if you want to do hops or something, the brake barely does anything. I don't want to run a U-Brake but its the only mount it has :(

  10. O.K., I have a U-brake on one of my bikes, but no matter how hard I pull the lever, it dosn't lock, and thats pretty bad for hopping. Any suggestions? Tar? hairspray?

    Thanks, Brad
