  1. Thanks for all the answers, I've recently bled my Hope brakes with DOT4 and i think i did the right thing there. My maggies are nearly 4 years old now and are starting to show their age. I think i could well be filling up the bath shortly. Thanks again for all the advice
  2. Because i'm a new guy. I want to take part in the forum, get to know some new people and have a conversation about the bits im not so familiar with. Isn't that what the New Members chat's all about ? There's loads of threads about disks or rim brakes?, which pads are best?, which bike should i buy? I'm sure if we did extensive enough searching then most of the posts here have been answered already but we're all just trying to find our feet with the forum, make a positive contribution and say hello to a community of people who like the same things that we do. Many thanks for all your answers
  3. I've been hearing a lot about water bleeds for hydraulic brakes and i'm wondering what all the fuss is about ? My hope brakes run on DOT4 and my Maggies on their Mineral oil. Have i missed a trick ? or is water bleeding not all its cracked up to be ? Your thoughts please
  4. I'm guessing that if you're using windows movie maker you're a PC guy, but two thumbs up to iMovie if you can get your hands on a mac. imovie comes installed on pretty all macs and shows windows how its done for budget video software.
  5. Matt, I've got a gimp too, my local bike shop recommended it after i pranged a few other frames. I've not found it to be ideal at all, hope you do better. I've just got back into my trials for some of the same reasons, losing the gut and getting back into the sport i loved when i was younger! I'm riding a DDG Shooter at the moment but think i'll too be trying to get something better if i get validated. Hope all the riding goes well!
  6. Bah, thats what i was afraid of. Does anyone know if MTB style bottom brackets are made for cranks like this ? Or should i write these off and buy some proper ISIS ones?
  7. This is an old Voxom BMX crank off a previous bike. Being a BMX crank it also has the BMX BB to go with it too. What i am wondering is, would this fit an ISIS bottom bracket or is this some completely proprietary fitting altogether. I'd perhaps like to use it on my trials bike which currently runs on a tapered BB and can't test it! Many thanks for looking! Rich
  8. I'll add my 2 cents for the Wellgo's. Mine have lasted a couple of years and can't complain about the quality.
  9. I've no decent independent bike shop near me so wondered into Halfords last night to see if i could pick up a couple of bits. I was disappointed to find out they couldn't help me. to be honest thats exactly what i was expecting, but if they'd had the bits then they'd have had a sale! Surely that would have been a good thing ?
  10. When i got into trials i had a pretty bog standard Halfords bike. I think it was a carrera or something. I snapped the chainstay on that. Then my local bike shop recommended getting an OnOne Gimp, which was a nightmare (a steel frame for trials, yeah right). I couldn't lift it very high at all, and weirdly ended up snapping two of their frames. Both in the same place behind the welds at the top of the down tube. Each time they replaced the frame under warranty which was good and i still have the frame knocking around somewhere not being used! I bought a friends DDG Shooter off them a couple of years ago and thats what i play with at the moment. Its not very trials specific, but then i'm not very good! I'm thinking as i progress i'll look to get something more suited to the discipline.
  11. Hello to all! I'm new to these them Forum's and relatively new to Trials so i thought i'd do my little introduction so you all know the new guy! I used to ride a bit of trials when i was younger (i'm only 23 now! ) but never really got any good. My bike isn't very exciting, its an OLD DDG Shooter which i've slowly swapped parts and upgraded over the years. I've recently brought my bike down from my folks house up north and i'm hoping to get the riding bug back again. I was wondering if any of you could recommend good spots for riding in the London area, or if there were semi regular meetup's for similar riders i might be cheeky enough to invite myself along to ?
