Hey! Kevin! what's up man? Yeah, I can't wait to really ride it...gotta wait for all this snow to melt though
-
Unfortunately, I've only had the pleasure of a quick demo ride ('cause of the snow I mentioned in my 1st post). It was sick right from the get-go though. Pops right up onto the back wheel, back wheel control is so easy and natural, all the components comliment each other...just great. I can't wait to really have a go with it though...I'll keep you guys posted on rides

Hey everyone, just picked this up yesterday at the Toronto International Bike Expo. Brand new, all Canadian, Meta VTT 26'' trials bike! Here's some Geo: Wheelbase: 1095mm Chainstay Length: 385mm BB Rise: 40mm Head Angle: 71.5 degrees Centre of BB shell to top centre of head tube: 675mm (26.5") Didn't think I'd like a high BB compared to the 0mm drop/rise BB on my previous bike, but it's great. I demoed the VTT and it felt awesome. It'll be a while before I can really ride it seeing as we just got 40cm of snow! Stupid mother nature...Anyways, here she is! Once I get it out, I'll let you know how it really rides, Cheers

Haha, that's the right way to have 'em in Canada

How is it for bunnyhops? They aren't vital to me as I prefer pedal-ups anyways, but I heard rumors that they're vitrually impossible to bunny hop. Any comments?

Haha, something exactly like that. Sick bike man

Hey Dan, Firstly, try not to feel stupid asking questions like these...everyone has to start at some point, and almost everyone needs some advice to help them along. So don't worry. Now getting to your question. Being relatively new to trials (a year or so), I can remember how I learned. Find a box, set of stairs, bench...anything thats about 2 feet high. Get your front wheel up onto the object, try to keep it as straight as possible. You might even need to get your pedal onto the object to keep you balanced the first little bit. Once you're settled, lean back and suck your knees up slightly to hop. Really emphasize moving backwards at first as this flows more naturally and can be corrected once balance isn't an issue. Once I picked up this learning trick, I went from 1 hop to about 10 in a matter of 2 days. It works wonders. But what the guys above me have posted holds truth as well. It will take practice. Stick to it...there's nothing like the feeling of finally nailing a trials move you've been working on. Cheers EDIT: Once or twice, practice leaning too far back and jumping off to land on your feet. It's a very reassuring feeling to know that you CAN bail out if necessary and not get hurt

Thanks man, you're a huge help. Even though it's a Canadian company, I might try to order one from Tartybikes (if they ship worldwide) since they have them onsale. I've done the math...even if I have to pay $200 (a little over 100 GBP), it'll still be cheaper than getting it from a shop in Canada. Your's is real nice, although I personally prefer the matte blue. Still super sick. Let me know all about how she rides Cheers

Yeah, stock bike. And sorry for any confusion...I am talking about wheelbase, not frame length (although they are directly related) Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am riding a stock. It's a very low end (Norco Evolve). It's all I had money for and all I could really get in Canada. I do a lot of urban trials and I know that everyone seems to say you need a short frame for that. But I feel like I'm not getting all the height and length out of jumps because I'm too squished. That's my dilema. Cheers

What type of riding do you do primarily? Urban or natural. Also, how tall are you? I'd just like to have more of an idea of how I will fit with this bike
-
What frame length do I need? I do almost ALL urban trials, I'm 6'1'' and I don't like the feel of my current frame (1042mm). Please help Cheers
-
What type of riding do you do primarily? I don't know how much of it is true, but I've really been hearing that shorter frames are better for urban trials, which is what I do.
-
I would also like your opinion/reviews about the Onza Limey. Comments?
-
Yes, I'd go for the 07 model of either frame, new. And I chose those bikes because the geo of the 07's seem good for me. I'm about 6'1'' and almost 200 lbs, so I need a long frame. Right now I have a frame with a 1050mm wheelbase and a 0 BB rise. Not so great for me, but it was all I could afford. If you know of any other comprable models, I'm open for suggestions. Thanks a bunch for the help Cheers Thanks everyone for all your input. I'm also open for other suggestions of frames with comparable geometry. Cheers

Hey all you trials nuts, First of all, I'd like to mention that I'm totally new to Trials-Forum, so if I do something I'm not supposed to or piss some people off with questions, let me know. The thing I'd like to ask is which frame would you choose: The Echo Control or the Adamant A1 and why? I do about 95% urban riding if that makes a difference in your choice. Any and all help will be much appreciated. Cheers *EDIT: Well thanks for all the input guys, but I actually decided to get a Meta VTT. I didn't think the geo would work for me, but I hopped on a demo VTT and loved it instantly. I'll be posting pictures as soon as I can
