  1. Go for the MK3 polo! Get an ABD 1.4l GT, with a cam and some choice mods you have 100bhp in an 780 kilo car, mucho more fun than a scirocco!

Or do what I've done and get a G40:)

Oh, and the handling isn't all that bad, when there on a decent set of shocks and springs, with G'laderseite arb blocks to help retain the castor angle once lowered.

  3. Engine: Petrol, This was on 95RON, Mr rolling road man told me I should run it on V Power though..

Size: 1272cc, Chip (with 8k limiter..) Pipercross, 4 Branch manifold, performance exhaust, P&P Throttle body, skimmed head (higher compression ratio..)

    Model: 1991 Polo GT

Driving Conditions: Good run to watford (120miles ish) to work and back, half country, half A and Dual carriageway, so averaging a 'good' 60mph mostly!

Combined MPG: 42ish, Full tank, 189miles, required 20 liters to full up.

    Rated MPG (manufacture) : No-idea, 30-45ish

Comments: Pretty pleased, thats with occasional limiter bashing, a close ratio box, with little concession to fuel economy when it comes to driving style, could increase it to 45mpg I reckon.

  4. Not jumping on the 'I knew him' bandwagon, buut..

I saw him ride twice, saw him do the mental drop gap in bristol and he was a name and a person to remember in my head as being something special.

Tragic loss, condolences to family, friends and everybody who knew him better than I did.

    RIP.

  5. Forgot this was on here..!

Cheers, pleased with it, only ridden it twice or so though, due to some shitness!

Rear rim is an Atomlab, um, cant remember which one, might change it, too heavy. Seat is a nitrox, will remove gash padding when I can be bothered.

I quite like the gearing, though it is a bit spinny!

  6. Absolutely shocking and gutting news. Met him at the DJ ride this year, and had a big conversation about our mutual VW interest, remember thinking afterwards, what a nice genuine guy. so added him to msn, where he was always up for a car related natter, and gave me loads of help and advice. Tragic loss of a seemingly brilliant, capable young man. Condolences to his family, and anybody who knew him.

  7. right.. this is really bugging me now i can't find any of the old polo-shirts (just black with halfords written on it, without orange sleeves) Dose anyone have one in a size SMALL i can buy for a reasonable price, search your clothing hole in your warehouses guys i want one i do.

Haha, thought it was only me who bummed those shirts, i have four, and it was well hard getting those lol. Mine are like XXXXS after being washed loads anyway.

  8. Anyone know about trade discounts n stuff through halfords? I haven't worked there 6 months yet but i'm wondering if i can get one of the nitro RC cars they sell (HPI Savage specifically) on trade as i'm hoping it'll be a lot cheaper.

    :D

    No.

  9. Hey, been a while since I've posted on here, could do with a hand though.

Looking for, pref a Tioga rim, in 24" 36h if they do them? Can't remember if they did.

Or a DX32/BMF to suit, anybody got any ideas where I could get one from?

Or any other decent 24" rims, if things have moved on in the last 2 years since i had my ashton.

    Thanks

    Rich
