  2. Hmm it will be weaker than the origional weld, however it will be a little stronger than if it was just a random crack in the middle of the stay. If you get it heat treated it will be even better. Can you not get onto who ever you bought the frame off and see if you could get any discount of another neon frame? or even get one for free?

Ok well i only want to get it fixed to sell it.

The neon frame should be under warranty still as its only 6 months old, however i bought it from trials uk, and i only got it because my dad went and collected it. Would there still be a warranty on it and would i be able to get another due it to it cracking rather quickly or will it just be down to the amount i rode it?

    Thanks Scott

  3. I know have the ice built, but the neon owes me money. I found out that it should cost about £20 to have it welded. The crack is on the weld that connects the chainstay and the downtube so i presume the frame will be rubbed down and welded over the original weld. Will this mean that it will be just as strong as it will basically just replace the original weld. Also if i run a rear disk is it likely to live any longer?

    Thanks Scott

  4. I was out and after just over an hour of trying i finally managed to get up this fairly high wall so decided to finish it off with a 180 off the edge back to the pavemnt but then as i landed the bottom bracket decided to snap. i have just litterally gotten in from hospital with my ankle in cast for 6 weeks... not good!

Unlucky mate, was an awesome 180 off though, what have you done to your ankle, you seemed ok after?

  5. Hi, ok so basically i found a rather large crack in my neon bow mod frame that goes almost the whole way round the rear chainstay on the chain side. Fortunately im waiting to have my new onza ice frame fitted, but i as wondering if there was any way i could get the neon frame fixed? Or if id still be able to sell it and what kind of price would i get for it?

    Thanks Scott

  6. Im kinda heading towards a front rim brake is better, just not sure which, i had a look at vee brakes and a lot of the time they are as expensive as a hs33.

At the moment im running disk, unfortunately my forks only have disk mount, so i cant try a front rim brake. However, i need a new pair of forks so im wondering about changing my brakes to something better too, hence why i asked this question.

Are there any good strong forks on the market that have both disk and magura/vee mounts?

    Thanks Scott

  7. It depends what your after in a front brake ultimately. Both setups can get the desired result; the disc has the advantage that when setup correctly can offer plenty of bite and 'on/off' power, but still have plenty of modulation right out of the box. The HS33 can take some experimentation with pads, boosters, rim surfaces etc to get what you want.

For a front HS33 I used black pads on a smooth rim, this is mostly because I like to do a lot of front wheel moves that require a good modulating brake, yet I still get good lock/hold for moves like ups and gaps to front wheel. I have run Phat Pads and Plaz pads on the front too and just found them a touch OTT for my personal preference, however I know that some people would love them setups.

Right now I have a Vee brake with standard pads on and it's great, however I am borrowing some Shimano XTR arms off of a mate and they have a parralel push system that makes it very very spongy. When I have fixed my HS33 I will probably go back to using that as it was spot on rather then playing around with Vee setups.

I also do a lot of up to front moves and front wheel gaps etc. but i dont find the disk holds well enough, and iv now snapped two rotors in the past 2 months from slipping and coming down on it, which is becoming expensive.

i have noticed a lot of people are now using front Vee brakes, but i cant see how they are as powerful as a hs33??

    Thanks Scott

  8. As the title says i was wondering how a disk compares to a hs33 on the front wheel?

I have ridden with rear disk and hs33 and found the hs33 a lot better so i was just interested to know how its like on the front in performance and braking power etc.

    Thanks Scott

  9. I have the same viz rims with the angled side walls on the front and rear and I used to have the viz mounts too and i just found the pads wore at an angle. The brake got better once the pads had worn to the rim but it took a little while

  10. Thanks for the comments

both brakes are shimano DLX 160mm's, the front holds really well but lately the rear has been slipping a lot as you can see and yh it hurt quite a lot! Iv now got a rear magura which iv got to fit but il still use the disk during the winter. Think i just need to get some new pads.

  11. Neon Bow?? they was just under 1.8kg and have magura and disk mounts. I bought one about 6 months ago and havent had any problems. Iv been running rear disk the whole time although have now got a magura to fit.

    Dont know if this helps??
