  1. Drawing in autocad: 1 hour - ish

Coding the NC code: 2 hours - ish

Machine cutting: 2 hours, cos I was very conservative on feeds and speeds, wasn't really sure what the machine/cutter could cope with.

Yea Dave MDF :) but only for the test run. The real thing is 6082 T6 aluminium.

Its on my bike now, and I've given it a few bashes :) Holding up well :D

  2. My 1st practice/test run on some scrap MDF to test my CNC coding:

Added spline shape for onza/tensile cranks and cut it in aluminium:

    Nice tight fit!

Assembled to an old, used crank arm:

This is my 1st design, will probably make more with improvements :D

    Comments welcome :D

  3. what tool??

when i did mine, i took out the old ratchet ring by putting my hub on my lathe an shaved it away.

to but the new one in, put the ring in the freezer, then heat up the hub, then just tap it in with a small hammer (keep it straight...). Make sure you put it in the right way up though or your pawls won't engage!

  4. don't use your brakes when on the back wheel and i find i can balance longer without hopping, takes practice but can be fun, and if you do roll through grab your brake and rebalance

So you're saying we should be able to roll backwards and forwards on the back wheel and so could adjust our balance point?

    Interesting

  5. When on both wheels you have sideways control by either twisting the bars or rolling the front wheel a bit (bars at an angle).

When manualling, you have sideways control because you are rolling, and can steer.

The problem with balancing on the back wheel is this lack of sideways control. Obviously you can try to lean each way, but without hopping it's very hard to correct your movements.

    That make sense?

  6. Ok, I've used plaz for about a year now (single pair) on a medium grind.

Great grip in the dry, not that good in the wet, but they dry off fast.

    Mostly silent with my setup.

Only a small amount of pad wear over the year.

My pads are still stuck to the backing, so I don't really care about molded/glued etc.

    Hope that helps

  7. What do you mean by "more drive out of one push" ?

If you mean making one pedal take you further, increase the front or decrease the back. If you mean making one pedal sccelerate faster, increase the back or decrease the front.

I think the most common gear for mods is 18:12 (closely followed by 18:11?)

I find a lower gear helps gaps....

  8. Whatever you feel about each other and how things are run etc, it should not be posted on a public forum. Other forum members probably don't want to know or don't care. All these other forum members will see is a bunch of moaners who spend more time arguing than running a club.

Keep it to PMs or MSN.
