  1. I wouldn’t trust it how often do you have to change a cam belt? and how often do you have to change a cam chain? the main reason car companies started using belts over chains is cost and noise reduction from what I understand. I wouldn’t trust a belt with my teeth I enjoy food to much also haven’t other companies brought similar things out? getting parts will also be difficult unless it becomes common. would the tension damage the hub bearings at all as I would guess that you have to run a much larger tension than you would with a chain.

  2. Thanks again guys!

I've just been speaking to my dad who recons I had a tetanus booster 7 years ago when I cut my fingers in a food blender (as you do). So I should be ok - I might go in to the walkin centre tomorrow morning (early while its quiet) just incase.

I've read that the incubation period for tetanus is an average of 8 days (depending on how far from the main circulatory system it is so for a foot it's probably a bit longer) so there's no mad rush. The main symtoms are jaw lock and back ache.

F*ckin hate nails - I'm usually so careful too.

    Cheers.

ohh dear you do have some rotten luck john..horrid taps going wrong broken ribs fingers in blenders and nails in feet.

  3. guys ridin' some BARE bikes with no seats about.

or a sport where you get your bike over obstacle possibly trowing in moves to make it look better. A great social sport. (I have used this as a presentation as well and spent a lot of time talking about the bike set up I found that easier.)

  4. forging has the advantage of an orientated grain structure and I would guess that hydroforming has the same advantage this can make a component stronger in a certain axis.

the reason for using hydroforming over forging is the high cost of dies. would you be able to posy the essay after you have written it I would be quite interested in finding out more about the process.

  5. I think another massive problem is going to be the number of components a person would have to change at once to "upgrade" to this system.

(frame, hub, crank) The shaft wouldn't be to hard to protect would it? Possibly another tube running under it.

Basically if a trials company brought it out i wouldn't be interested until I had seen it hammered and come back asking for more.

  6. I'm not the biggest fan of Clarkson but an MP trying to get him fired for a bit of a risky joke? hasn't the MP got a better things to do its insane.

I'm quite keen on getting some people off the telly any one up for saying David Dickensons fake tan offends you?

  7. try bedding it in again (cake it in mud and drag it down a nice big hill).

If its feels mushy or suddenly the lever bites at a different point bleed it. maby the pads have become contaminated so could try baking them or getting new ones (iv not found baking effective.).

my hope seemed to slowly faid and get rubbish for no real reason, I have spoken to other people with the same problem and they have sent it to hope to get it serviced for free.

  8. Is the front chain ring in a good state?

maby a picture or two could help out hard to tell whats happening. It also might be worth checking your hub out there could be a lot of flex comming form it when you put power down hard and that could be trowing the chain. (This will only be the case if the chain is only trown when you pedal hard.) and if the tensioner is twisted (the jocky wheel is not running in a strait line down the chain.) this could cause your chain to come off.

I assume you ahve picked the bike up and seen when the chain is droped see if its in the same spot every time that can be a massive help if you havn't. maby a stiff link where the chains gone together.

hope iv been some sort of help

    (it is drivetrain not chain)

  9. I will do a screen shot of it just a couple of questions on that.:P

Is there a way of making cells show the formula rather than the value (I know this is possible for excel but I am using Open Office Calc as I'm tight.)

and how do I put photos up on here. I tried searching but i couldn't seem to find any thing.

    thanks for any help, bendy

  10. Is your tensioner running strait?

    Enough chain tension?

teeth missing or bent front chain ring?

    bent hanger?

    damaged chain or stiff links?

    hub internals broken?

I hate problems with the drive it just makes your bike feel so sketchy. if it isn't any of them I'm a bit stuck for ideas, quite often it is a bad chain or a chain that hasn't worn to the sprockets your using (though I've not really had this problem with wider chains.)

  11. basically iv made a spread sheet (on open office) for comparing gear ratios. I was thinking of changing my current gearing and started looking at different crank lengths and things. In the end decided to make a spread sheet for it, as far as i can tell my maths is correct and I thought this might help other members. Is it possible to host files on Trials Forum if it is for new members ill pop it up.

  12. I ran a DMR Revolver a while ago and couldn't find any thing wrong with it and its not a bank breaking bit of kit. I've found with some Echo parts the bearings fail quite quickly and know other people have had the same problems I am not sure if this is the case with these hubs though.

The Echo SL hub does look pretty it must be said...well pretty in a CNC over the top sort of way :P.

As for the king I would wait until you have been riding a little longer and would keep it in good running order.

  13. I've started going the "right way" more recently and feel you can put more power down and get a bit more tuck. Going the "right way" took a long time before it felt natural to do, but does seem worth it. some riders say that side hopping the "wrong way" is dangerous as you can clip your pedal and get tangled in the bike. I've seem some riders that when they are going towards there strong foot do the side hop switch foot but that just hurts my brain to think about.

  14. Hello,

I'm Ben I'm 20 I've been riding trials for a few years now. I've always ridden stock though I would love to have a 24 to trow around. I mainly ride around the Oxford or Loughborough area as I am studying Materials engineering at Loughborough University. my favorite places to ride are stoke and bristol.

I would rather go on a small ride with friends than a big group ride. I feel I should say I do have problems with grammar and spelling as I am dyslexic but I will use spell checks and try my best to not let this be a problem.
