  1. My rule of thumb is if your frame has bashplate mounts, use a bashplate, if it dosent, use a bashring. never use both, makes it a pain in the neck to get the chain off, costs more, and is heavier if you care about that.

  2. The spokes are NOT Trialtech - they are Araya white spokes, which also come in gold or black (retail for £13.50 with nipples per wheel, free p&p).

The brakes are Shimano SLX, which feel lovely - mineral oil, really reliable, good modulation, really light, and a solid feel when braking. :D

Do they actually hold on the rear? Nice bike btw

  3. Well said (Y)

I don't think anyone here really cares about the location of members (and if its that much of an issue then they can feck off) but I can see the benefits of regional FS/WTD & locations forums. It'd be good to get an idea if theres any demand for these - if there is enough I'll add them.

I guess the .co.uk domain gives the impression that its UK only... but it's not, thats just the domain we got stuck with :P

    I vote yes!!!!!

  4. Not at all. He's improving so fast on that a3. A smaller bike would just hold him back,

Really enjoyed the vid. Impressive stuff mate.

Oh, sure, i wasnt dissing him or his bike, he is improving real fast, but somethin a wee bit shorter would shurely make him get better even faster????

  5. Not just the cost either, a lot of people won't deal internationally.

I know I wouldn't bother dealing with anyone abroad, it's just too much hassle.

To much hassle? what hassle? its around twice the cost to ship anything internationally, you can kinda use that as a rule of thumb. may sound like alot but it really isnt bad if you think about it.

  6. I am a bit of an old skool rider and like the idea of running a v brake rather than a maggy because of crashing pipe bursting ride over for the day issues i have previously had... anyway

im looking to overhaul the rear v brake set up on my planet x.

    i need some advice.

    best value for money levers?

    best value for money caliper

booster yes/no if yes which one?

and finally pads.... ive read through the pad reviews as a first port of call but cant make up my mind.... its a toss up between:

    tnn v pads

    heatsink yellow v pads

    heatsink white v pads

i currently run a mavic d521 rim with no grind.

do you recommend a grind if so know any good links to videos or advice threads on here.

your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    thomas

get an sd7 lever, sd7 arms, get good cable, like xtr or something of that sort, and use the heatsink yellows for a smooth rim. You dont have to have a booster like you do on maggies, if you want one, its real easy to mod a 4bolt one.

  7. Don't know, bud. You live in the U.S. like me. Not much to go for, I contacted Adrian at Unique, but he says he can't make a new order on the Pro 700 and 720. That's what I would have got. I'm having a look at the new Trialtech bars, maybe get some of those from Aki? They look pretty darn good to me. Thinking of buying some and throwing them on the Zhi.

v!zis so amazing, wish we had a more uptodate dealer. Ye im prolly gonna get the trialtech ones. i just need to start working at the local lbs and ill have the money fast :D

  8. I live plenty close to the US and I think they're portrayed accordingly in the media. OTN shows what Americans are like quite well too.

honestly, if you go by what people on OTN act like, americans probably are pretty redneck and retarded. But that dosent mean we all are.

  9. So its not that great? yeah im in the us so i cant get everything under the sun. the shop is 5 min. away and i want to support him cause there aint many bike shops in the area.im getting it fer 650 USD, sounds pretty good to me??????
