if i repaint my rims does the paint last long or does it just start flakeing off thanks ben

my magura hs33 do not squeel when the pads hit the rim is this the pads ? when my mate had his on the same rim it used to squeel all the time and i like my ears to know that my brake is working LOL if its the pads what do you recomend for a nice noise and good hold im using a mavic d521 rim thanks ben
