  1. Its true, turn 30 in a month and a 3 hour session kills me now :(

Need to get some more riding in to condition me better :D

3 Hours?? I'm blowing out me arse after an hour. :S (but then I am still crap) It seems the better you get the less effort it takes.

I found what I think might be a good spot to practice spot deep in the forest of dean while I was out on my mountain bike last night. I'm gonna go back to take a few pics and post them on here to see what you guys think.

  2. What do they feel like to you though fella?

Have they given you any grief? Have you thought, 'man, if it wasn't for these damn bars, I'd be hopping trucks' ?

Because if not, keep them, if not, and you want to sell them, I'll give you 3 pounds, uncut.

I don't have any experience of riding different bikes/set ups so the only thing I've got to compare them with are the echo risers fitted on my sons t-rex. I can't get on with those at all. The sweep on them just feels wrong to me where as the MAD bars feel right. I think when I pimp my ride I'll go for a set with the same sort of geo. When I change them Lord Banks, you can have them. free, gratis, no charge. but it wont be for a few months. Can you wait that long?

  3. MMmmmmm I've got some of these on my bike. They came fitted and as I've only had it a couple of weeks, I'm just at the trackstand, small hop stage at the mo. Maybe I'll change them once I start getting better. I've got plans to give it a makeover anyhow so I'll put some on the shopping list.

  4. Question from a newbie here so patience please if I'm talking out me arse  Is it better to practice a move and alternate the forward foot or does everyone favor one or the other. I seem to be more comfortable using my right foot but don't want to get lazy on the other foot if it's crucial to good technique.

    Cheers

  5. The general feel i get reading the threads, is that a softer sole than the ones i have now will help me feel the pedals better. There's a routeone in front of me so I'll have a look through that.

    Cheers Guys

  6. I've got a pair of shimano spd's at the mo. The soles are pretty stiff to help with power transfer on my XC bike. If I take the cleats off would they do the trick or do I need something with a little more flex? Do I need a smoother sole. Would my walking boots be any better?

  7. ... you lasted an hour!!! Doing better than us then :D

Yeah but you know i'm gonna hurt later

    what bike ?

Echo control. I couldn't have bought a more inappropriately named bike. At the moment it's more like an Echo out of control.

  8. The bike arrived today. :P I'm rubbish :( I've been playing around on it for the last hour and I'm knackered. :sweatingbullets: Mind you I never expected it to be easy so I'm not disappointed in my lack of ability. If you have to work hard to achieve something the success is much sweeter.

  9. Are you serious? He's just telling us how his son's liked the look of trials after he's been on trashzen and has decided to take it up, it's a nice thing to hear about!!!

Mr. Hammer, i'm terribly sorry to be clogging your thread :$

I must of missed reading these couple earlier. Good work fellas, that made me chuckle.

  10. Yeah thanks all. We're definitely feeling the love here. Bikes should be here soon and I can't wait to get my leg over  This is a really good forum and I still find it hard to believe that it's such a popular sport in the UK yet hardly anyone in this area is having a go. The Forest of dean is a very popular area for downhill/enduro and cycling in general. I'm going to go stake out some good spots and pass em on to you guys

  11. thats a fair idea make him respect it more!

i found that when i had to start buying stuff

what bike did he get in the end?

Absolutely right. He's got a Onza T-Rex which has been slightly upgraded. Try-all rear wheel and hope front brake.

  12. It's great you both have an interest (Y) but where is his motovation to ride it going to come from if you just buy him one without him having to earn... or am i being old fashioned/jealous lol

    Nick

Not at all Nick, your a man after my own heart. He had to pay for it himself with his own savings. :)

  13. Where in Gloucester are you mate... us old boys here in Somerset are having fun and can point you in the direction of a few ride spots.

doh, just noticed... forest of dean. !!

    (Y)

Cheers guys, as soon as we've mastered the basics, we'll be up for it (Y)

  14. I caught my dad out the front on my bike the other day, he wasnt doing anything major just trying to trackstand. He didnt ask my permission though!

He's well naughty. Mind you, it's probably what I would of done if my son had got one first

  15. good news man I ride with my two kids and it's great fun.

don't listen to that G-baby, he's being a knob and yes I know your reading this

    Matt

His reply was at best feeble, maybe he needs to work a little more imagination into his critique. (you might need help with some of the bigger words if your reading this G-baby)

  16. It made more of a point than your reply

Thats cool always good to hear of more people getting into the sport, should be fun learning with your son aswell maybe get a little bit competetive (sp)

As much as I'd like to think it wont, your probably right.
