Building up a new ZOO! lynx long DD and my dad thinks i need a set sized brake for the frame (for eg i could only use 160mm on the lynx frame) however i'm pretty sure i can use any brake i want as long as i have the right caliper for it. Answers ?

I am going with the Onza pedals now.. Thanks for advise guys. I would go with platform pedals but i have a really low budget at the moment so need something that works and will last for a while.. Someone said take the inner cage out.. Should i really do this and if so why ?
