Panasonic Advert Influenced By Macaskill?
Herr.Wolfkatze replied to Hannah Shucksmith's topic in Chit Chat
's a funny commercial, I to be honest don't see much bmx where I am, I never really thought it was as mainstream in the UK as it is in the US. I see trials every so often though, so literally based on that alone it... could be Danny Mac inflienced? -
Calling All Street Riders! Stock & 24"!
Herr.Wolfkatze replied to Herr.Wolfkatze's topic in Trials Chat
Aaaah~ I can do both, though I can do a british bunny hop higher (probably the air preload on my forks helping though) Yeah, there isn't much here to hoppy hoppy. I mean it'll be nice to learn for places like South Bank which are perfect for it but otherwise I just don't really know what to start off with for street. Most of the "street videos" I see are people on mods doing the same T,G or S onto the millionth object, and then there's the likes of Danny Mac, Ali C, That Austrian lot and those Russians. Which is quite a step up, I could watch a video frame by frame all day and i'd still go to do it and be like "Uh... how?" -
Calling All Street Riders! Stock & 24"!

Very very pure street with some gapping and stuff in there of course What are American and British bunnyhops? -
Yo gang, So~ I finally, finally FINALLY! Actually have a trials bike on it's way to me now. Beautiful white Inspired with a nice streety set up, it's exactly what I wanted, living in London and all. The only problem is, now that I own a trials bike I don't really know what to DO or where to begin... When I rode around on the P.3 I basically tried practising whatever trials move came to mind at the time, and it was a so-so effort. I can't really do much of anything at the moment so it peeves me off, but if anybody could give me a nice list of 3-5 things I should start working on as my core area of urban trials I'll look up the appropriate articles on TrashZen and get to it! Cheers, Ric

Sounds like what I used to have with myself (ex-Aggressive Inliner) and the goons (Skateboarders)

Wayheeyy! My 'verse are alright you know.. Especially on my huge ass dirt jump pins... Though I do agree after a while I can 'feel' them a bit too much... I reckon after a good session of gapping it'd get to me. I reckon I might try putting in an extra pair of innersoles first, though I will take a peek at the Etnies or some other hi-tops... I reckon some of those "Vans off the wall" might be good with a standard pair of boots ankle supports. Hmm, bodge riding shoes
-
Would definitely rather the Converse that I can atleast choose in a pretty style than the hideous Ribo shoes. Vomit. Like those people that wear hiking shoes for every day purposes and wonder why their feet smell like P.E. changing rooms =[ Hmm, went on a little rant there. Anyways the only ones I like are those Koxx ones that are coming soon, because they look a little like DC's Till then however, I quite like my black and pink converse with little wings on both sides, they hug my pedals quite nicely. and as I'm only just getting into trials and have yet to purchase a bike, no fractured ankles. Working just fine for dirt jump though
-
Oh yeah.. ankle support... Buy a pair of converse a size two big, buy some of those ankle supports you can get from boots or other pharmacies and wear them whilst riding, job done. Hell i'd even get a pair for my knee joints

Funny thing is mate, i've never tried trials shoes, but after extensive discussion, me and my mates have found that converse + other cheap plimsoley (flat sneakers) hug the spikes in trials/dirt jump pedals PERFECTLY. I actually have to try very hard for my feet to come off the pedals, and even then they only slip about half a cm. In turn it makes it hard to reposition my feet to a comfortable spot on the pedals but seeing as they hardly move at all it doesn't make much difference to me. Try it out ey? Might save yourself some money and look stylish in the process (Kinda like how if I tuck my right trouser leg into my sock I always make sure I have nice loud smiley face socks on, so if I forget to take the trouser leg out, people say "Oh wow I like your socks!" instead of going "Take your trousers out your sock you look like a gimp") Hope I helped!

Ali C Seems To Solve My Every Problem, Well Chuffed
Herr.Wolfkatze replied to Herr.Wolfkatze's topic in Trials Chat
I had issues with my paypal account and they got resolved well after he had to leave basically. I want a 24" ultimately an inspired but that's not going to happen any time soon. I haven't seen any 24" bikes for sale anywhere =[ -

On the note of choosing a mod just because it's pretty... Anyone have any experience of using a mod for street and how good they are etc? Because if any experienced rider or a pinkname can inform me that this would be a good bike for street in re: to my weight and height... This guy has just made a sale EDIT: Yes, I know, I keep bouncing between mod, stock and 24" but it's hard! And just when I think i've closed a deal, it goes FUBAR on me so pretty little options keep popping up -

Thanks for that, i'll watch that adamant then, and if there's anything nice still going in the FS thread that I may have missed please everyone point it out! -
Sorted chaps, And this deal will NOT go down like the titanic on me
-
I wish they came in 24" =[

That pretty spelled out everything I wanted to know, thanks very much mate! Top notch reply, it's very rare my issues are resolved with one post, let alone the first one

I know quite a few riders that are trading out their aluminium trials frames for steel versions, usually Marino. Whilst I know steel bends rather than snaps unlike aluminium, I don't understand why exactly this is a preferable alternative. Surely it's better to be able to give your frame a good weld to the exact quality and condition it already was, as opposed riding around with a bent frame? For example, if one had an Inspired Fourplay frame, what would be the benefit of having an exact Marino replica?

Aah~ Nicely broken down

London On The 20th (saturday )

Where in London? I'm game... Though probably far too late a reply. -
Larger discs don't boost stopping power a whole bunch more than anything that could simply be controlled from the brake levers... The rotor size is all to do with cooling, bigger bike = more speed = bigger rotors to self-clean and cool under high speed stopping so your pads don't get cheese grated. Could be wrong but that's what I always gathered. Surely it would be bigger pads to boost stopping power anyway..?

I'm using Avid Single Digit 9 V-Brakes with Tektro levers on my Specialized P3 dirt jumper and they're faaantastic Rear brakes sound like a swan in the wet mud but they've never once let me down. I'd sooner skid to my death than have a brake failure. Hope this helps EDIT: Depending on how you have the canti lever springs set up they can be good for feathering or for relentless instantaneous bite. I can do pretty decent nose manuals on mine though, they're set up just right for me. Also, I find mechanical brakes more pleasant than hydraulics. I was going to make a thread regarding this but seeing as you essentially did it for me... Does anyone else find that mechanical brakes are more comfortable and user friendly than hydraulics? I like being able to feel the cables moving as if i'm literally pinching the canti's myself. With hydraulics I tend to have a floppy little brake lever and I don't know how hard i'm gripping the rotor/rim with the pads until I lock up, and I generally have to put in alot of guesswork from how the bike generally responds. I dunno.. I mean when I get my trials bike i'll have hydraulic rim/disc setup and just get used to it... But for now I'd never go hydraulic on my P3.

Pretty weak transaction on his part. If you're not bothered then it's no worries But I personally would have wanted a little cash on my part for that kinda swap EDIT: So, I guess in essence the title of this thread was a bit pre-emptive, but ultimately correct
