  1. After doing Motocross for 15 years I just figured it would be a good way to improve my core stability and balance and they would sort of lend to one another in terms of practice. All types of biking require good balance and I don't think any sort of cycling requires it more than Trials. Plus, when you get as good at motocross as I am you feel like you need a new challenge....
  2. ahhhh, the entrance to Stowe, The amateur car photographers favourite spot.
  3. Thanks bud. So better off saving the 50 quid on the 09, getting the 08 with the Vee's already on there and just updating them with some better ones.
  4. Are they that bad in standard trim? My reason for buying new is more due to the fact I am after a bike fairly quickly so I can enjoy my summer evenings learning the basics and I'm also intending to stick it on the credit card whilst it's interest free for the next 6 months. I just wanted to get the best bike I can for around the 400 mark.
  5. My finger is hovering over the 'add to cart' button on the 09 Onza Pro. Right choice?
  6. Is there a big difference in spec between the 08 and 09 Onza Pro's? I know the 09 model has mechanical disc brakes but is there any other difference/Improvement? Are the disc brakes better than the trusty V's? Basically, I can get a new 08 for 340 or a new 09 for 400 quid. What's best to go for?
  7. Thanks guys. So in that case....Wanted, 26" for no more than £300.00.
  8. Looking more closely at the sort of riding I will be doing when I get a bike, I am pretty much surrounded by woods etc. Although my intention was to try some more urban spots chances are I will end up riding more off road within the trees and woods but with a little urban riding thrown in to the mix. Is it better to go for a 26" and make the most of riding the concrete stuff the best I can or go for a 20" or vice versa. Basically, is a 20" more adaptable to both types of riding or is the 26"? And, if a 26" is better, any recommendations?
  9. Hi again guys, I'm searching through the for sale section looking for a complete bike. More often than not I have no idea what I am looking at so I'd appreciate a bit of help. Ideally I want a 20" bike and I really am stretching my budget at £300.00. If I can spend under that then it will save me all sorts of abuse from my better half. Looking at whats currently in the for sale section, can anyone make any recommendations. I realise I'm opening myself up here to 'Buy my bike, it's the best on there right now' etc etc but some honest advice would be really appreciated. Thanks again. Simon
  10. I'm just down the road, I'm in Brackley. I might take you up on that offer dude.
  11. Thanks for all the advice guys. Hugely appreciated. I'm going to take your advice and look at a second hand bike in the 'For Sale' section of the forum (once I get validated) I think for a complete newbie to trials it's best to go for something second hand for a decent price. That way, if I don't find that I enjoy it, It's no big financial loss. So, once I get up and running on here fully I'll be zipping over to see what's for sale. Cheers again.
  12. Or would an Onza T-Pro 2009 for £382.00? Is that a good price for a new T-Pro?
  13. Thanks for the info guys. I'm more tempted to go for the 20" just because it's something different to the usual bikes I ride. Plus I prefer riding a smaller set-up. Is there a big enough difference between the Onza Bird and the Onza Pro for a newbie to really notice? The differences in weight and dimensions on paper seem negligible.
  14. Hi folks, Not new to cycling but am certainly new to Trials. Generally a bit of a two wheeled addict and after spending a good few years watching the trials boys do their thing I have finally decided to give it a whirl myself. I'm sure I am going to end up in a whole world of hurt but if you don't give something a go, you'll never know. So I just wanted, initially, a bit of advice on choosing a bike. I don't want to spend a fortune on my first bike but at the same time I've never been one for buying junk so I'm not looking for the absolute cheapest. I've been scouring Tartybikes and intend to order a bike from them but before I do, I just want some general info. Firstly I'm a fairly tall rider - 6'3" and lanky with it. I only weigh about 12 stone so I'm not massively heavy (I have no idea whether this info makes any difference incidentally!) I'm a fairly competent downhiller/trail rider but have never dabbled in any form of trials riding. So, with all that in mind could some over some advice on bike choice? 26" or 20" wheels etc? Thanks in advance. Simon Just to add an extra note. I'm looking at the Onza Bird. On paper looks a fairly decent spec. Any thoughts? particularly considering my height?
