  1. 15T = 15 teeth, you can guess the rest. You can run SS with the derailleur, so long as you can lock it in the right place to line the chain up with the sprocket (this can be bodged in a number of ways with or without retaining the shifter), but a chain tensioner in place of the derailleur is probably a better option - just to clarify, you'll need something to tension the chain as the dropouts in the tekiya won't allow you to tension the chain by moving the wheel in the frame. To remove the cassette you'll need a cassette tool and a spanner to turn it, and unless you want to do a creative bodge, a chain whip is essential. A good bike shop should help you out for next to nothing if you don't fancy doing it yourself. I've got the Kabuki Mono, which is the same bike essentially, but with single speed setup. I'm running a 22T at the front and a 16T at the back which works OK for me so far, but I think a 17 or 18 T would be a bit lower and better gearing (I'm pretty new to this game though!). I'm not sure what chain ring the Tekiya comes with.... When I got my bike the chain was prone to skipping. I shortened the chain by a link and it runs sweetly now. So make sure you adjust your chain so there's not much slack, i.e. so there's no way you can take out aother link without the chain being ridiculously tight. Hope this helps.
  2. I've got some and they seem very powerful in the dry. Would definitely recommend them. Very loud!
  3. Had the same problem with my bike. Tried all sorts (new sprocket, chain, adjusting chain line and tensioner!) until finally taking a link out of the chain to get more chain wrap....magically fixed. Wish this had been on the forum a couple of weeks ago!
  4. Superlong indeed! Check out the Diamondback website....as I said, haven't confirmed it yet, but it does seem a tad excessive! Quoting the website: "Kabuki Mono Diamondback KABUKI MONO:The KABUKI MONO is the perfect bike for ripping up the urban play ground. With top name braking, stiff and specific trials frame with CNC plates and yokes and hydroformed down tube. The single speed converter allows the quick and easy change over to gears, but who needs gears when this bike will help you clean any section. Wheelbase: 1150mm BB height: 350mm" In response to Staphan, I'm 6'3", which I guess is 190.5 if you like metric... So pretty tall. EDIT - If anyone is curious - http://www.diamondback.co.uk/bikedetails.a...g=165&pt=16
  5. Just quoting the website, presume it is BB to floor, rather than BB rise.
  6. The only other stat I have is that the BB height is 350mm. Adam - It's good to hear you used the tekiya and found it OK. Not had a chance to ride anyone else's trials bike, so don't have anything to compare it against. I had imagined it would be easier to lift the front wheel, so was a little surprised it felt heavy, but now I realise I am probably not used to shifting my weight around enough. I'm 6'3" so I guess a fairly long WB isn't such a problem as if I was little.
  7. Ok I'm pretty new to this trials game, and probably shouldn't be so excited about this, but I've a big grin on my face. When I got my bike a few days ago, I was sure it was broken as it just wouldn't do what it was told. A few evenings mucking about and I'm well pleased with the result. I'm sure it looked ragged as hell, but it felt good! I do have one question for someone more experienced.....my bike is a diamondback kabuki mono. Apparently its got an 1150mm wheelbase. Looking at everything else in the world of trials this seems like supertanker length. I haven't actually measured it yet, and we're moving home and the measuring tape is in Glasgow and I'm in York at the moment, so not likely to do so. But if it is true, is this going to cause me problems with learning? Any advice would be greatfully received.
  8. Hi, I'm pretty new to trials, but I am moving back to Glasgow this weekend after a wee while down south. It would be great to get involved and meet some other trials riders. Sounds like a great idea....
  9. Hi my name's Douglas and I'm just beginning to get into trials. Been riding mountain bikes pretty much since they were invented, and have always liked hopping around on them. Just got a DB Kabuki Mono which I'm currently trying to get to stay on it's back wheel....very much work in progress (I see people here don't hold DBs in high regard - at least that lets me blame the bike for the moment!). The forum seems a really useful place for a newbie to get information and I've been scouring it for tips. Cheers Douglas PS I'm 30 so plenty old too!
