  1. Right i have a new DVD but it wont play on my laptop. However when i first put it in it did work to some extent, it read the disc came up however when the main bit played a flashing green screen was there.

now after turning my computer off and back on it doesnt even read the disc at all

    - Its brand new disc, no scratches, very clean

    - the dvd drive reads every other CD n dvd fine

    - It doesnt come up with any errors, simply "no disc in drive"

    - wont work in all the players on my computer (latest version of media player, blaze dvd, easy dvd, cliprex dvd)

    - it is a Toshiba DVD- rom SD-R2102 drive.

now with my limited knowledge of computers my ideas were, needs updated dvd driver or dvd encoder? but i dont really know exactly what they do or where to get them from. Its probably something completely different though.

any computer experts want to help me out?

  2. my computer really doesnt like your videos. every one of them always goes stupidly slow and jerky. My computer isnt that old and ive played 20min mpgs fine before. dont get it (Y)

oh yeah just thought id add my thoughts on the Koxx site too- its shocking

  3. I study at Brighton uni and so does my mate Oli (cant_ride) Dont know anybody that studys at Sussex though although i pass through it every day on the bus route and its just across the road from the Brighton campus I live on. From what i have heard it is really good education wise and its a pretty well established uni. Some of The accomodation looks a bit cramped from the outside but then its an old uni so probably the same as many.

as for the area there is shit loads going on almost every night in the way of nightlife. Great selection of bars, nightclubs, pubs etc. Good student nights at very cheap prices. Parking is a nightmare if not impossible anywhere in Brighton. Very studenty area, although there is a minority of pikey scum but its not that bad. You should come down and take a look for yourself!

  4. cant we meet at brighton station? Hove is a long trek apparently from Brighton and being tight up students cant be arsed to spend an extra £4 on another train journey. Couldnt ride there anyway as dont have a clue how to get there. If not then me and oli will have to meet up with you somewhere in brighton.

  5. *waits for how long it will be before people start copying ashtons spinning gap moves in videos on here*

ahhh as LOADS of people on here have been saying for the past few years "their past it" hmmm well whoever said that should get beats. TF dont you just love it for its accurateness and quality opinions :D"

  6. snowboarding in canada anyday over geekyness :P not a hard call

I've been boarding in Tignes & Val D'saire (sp?) in France for three weeks. Its easier to ski but harder to get world class on skis. much easier to get round those bloody mogules :P I've only ever boarded though and thats the way i will keep it. Super fun :P

the ski v snowboard thing is funny :S esp on the lifts- damn skiers think they have right of way :@

oh i have also been to whistler but it was summer so i rode a bike down a hill not a board.

Oh and once again- snowboarding in canada wins every time. I'd MUCh rather have a few weeks in a different country, different experience, lots of partying, lots of snow than spending all my time sat in front of a new computer daddy brought me. :S :P :S

oh and Joe yes i do remember you made that post a year ago and i remember posting "have a good" time. So er have a good time!

  7. Ok seen as we have a video competition I thought it would be a good idea if everyone posted their best hints and tips, do's and don't of making a good Trials videos. It can be anything. About the music to use, the type of riding to show, editing techniques etc etc and on and on. If everyone contributes then this could

become useful and we might even see better videos for it. So come on!

    I'll start....

Avoid Cliche's - That means no "stunning" shots of birds or planes flying in the distance, no chilli peppers songs (possibly?) , and no more riding at the Shell centre london <_< . These were all good before they got re used copied- but they are a bit tedious now. Im sure there is more I just canny remember.

    Choose the Right music

if the riding is full of BIG moves and fast paced action then some music similarly paced would be good- something heavy and loud. If its more chilled out with flowing, tech moves then slow hiphop could suit it well. Just look at Nick Goddards videos for proof of that.

    Dont over Edit

editing can make or break a good video but dont over use techniques, use them sparingly but effectively when you do. Dont edit it so its hard to make out whats going on cos there are so many fades and transsions inbetween.

    Cut the clips down

dont have seconds of riders building up to do a move, and seconds after theyve done it. cut the clips down so we see just enough. if they go on too long it ruins the video.

im done for now. I know there are loads more things to add. Your turn now...
