  1. are they pro 2 trials or the standard pro 2's?

    Think they're standard pro 2's.

Or, keep it a ride it...

Don't have the time, that's the whole point of this topic! Makes more sense for someone else to get the use out of it than the money it's worth just sat in my garage almost all year round.

You'd make more money on splitting it trust me to say you have burn arms, king headset, hope hubs n other immaculate parts .

Id kill to have that rear rim of you if it was 36h!

If I split I will let you know if it's 36h. Thing I don't like about splitting is you always get parts left over! I don't even know how much I'd advertise parts for if I broke it down.. I'd have to do a fair amount of research.

  2. Considering selling up... I love this bike but never get time to ride it as things always get in the way. It's in perfect mechanical order and needs nothing doing to it. How much do you think it's worth? The spec is:

Frame: Echo control - good condition, no dents

    Forks: Echo urban (I think)

    Headset: Chris King

Wheels: Hope pro 2 disc hubs, mavic front rim, echo rear rim, maxxis high roller tyres

Brakes: Avid BB7 front (203mm), HS33 rear - both set up perfectly IMO

    Cranks: Middleburn pro trials

Bars/Stem: Echo tough bars, echo stem

  3. I'm probably (depending if anyone else does) going to be riding in Portsmouth tomorrow evening as my new front brake should arrive tomorrow. If it does, i'll fit it after work and go straight there.

Would anyone else be up for it? I could be there between 6pm and 7pm depending on the traffic and what time i finish work. Also depending on the weather. But if all is good. Who's up for it?

  4. I spoke to someone at a local bike shop and they said if i partly prepared the bike myself they'd take it as they could get it powder coated. I completely stripped it down and put old bolts in the brake mounts holes, can't remember exactly what i used to cover the holes for the headset and bottom bracket as it was a while ago now. But then they sand blasted it and powder coated it. Looked great afterwards :). I'd personally recommend getting it powder coated anyway.

  5. One of the best things to get you started is learning to trackstand. Balance is the key to trials riding. Once you're confident that you can do this well, try balancing just on the rear wheel. I found this helped me a lot when i started trials riding a couple of years ago. Once you can do these you'll find it a lot easier to progress onto bigger and better moves.

  6. Yeah Birmingham is quite far to test some bikes... and i'd feel a bit left out going to a ride without a bike to ride. So think i'll just bite the bullet and get one when i've decided what. Not sure what geometry would suit me, i'm 6 foot so a longer bike would probably be better.

And yeah the bad brakes thing wouldn't be a problem as i know how to set brakes up/grind the rim etc. :)

Just need to get validated again so that i can post in the wanted section. Even more annoying as i have found posts from my old account a couple of years back :P never mind.

  7. It's all down to personal preference. Depandant on your size/weight also. But you don't want it too low as you'll risk buckling or denting your rim.

As stated above, it's good to have some spring in it, it gives more grip tooo. I personally don't like having the presure too low at the front as if you're turning the tyre can fold. But that's just my opinion, i know some people run with lower on the front.

  8. Haven't riden in years but looking to get back into riding! :D Not sure what size bike to go for, 20", 24" or 26".

I may get one of each just to try :P but that feels like a bit of a waste... I would like to buy a bike just to get some practice on for a month or so before i go and spend £1000+ on one though!

Any good starter bikes then? Not too expensive but i'm not too fussed as i'll probably not be keeping it long. Or i may keep it as well as the second bike (or even instead depending on how much i like it)

    Thanks

    Sam

  9. Hi guys, i used to ride trials a couple of years back. But I forgot my user/password so just made a new account.

I had quite a high specced 20" Monty x-lite (i think that was the one) - well it was high specced at the time not sure how it'd compare to bikes now-a-days :P. I'll try and find some pics and put them up later after work if anyone's interested!

Looking for a new ride now as i'd like to get back into trials. I'm 6 foot tall so probably go for a bigger bike this time. I quite like the look of the 24" bikes. Any recommendations?

Not sure yet whether to go new or second hand. Is it worth the more money to go new? I do like the Echo Urban 24".

    Cheers

    Sam
