I've had this problem too, although not with TNN's in particular, but another metal backed pad. I did find they were a little harder to get on, they never popped back off though. Did you lube it up at all when you put them on the first time? Tiny drop of wd40 did it for me.

I'm 25. Been riding and racing since I was 8. Trials is quite new to me though, converted xc whippet. And you're not alone on your mod, wee wheels for the win!
It's reassuring to see there are plenty of older riders here. Am I the only one getting sick of seeing certain 13-15 year olds popping up in members chat saying things that would normally get you punched?

Trialtech foam, you'll never look back .
+1 Trialtech foams are beast

Old ZOO!'s for the win, mine have been creaking for ages now but still refuse to die. And they feel great. I'll be replacing with the trialtech sports when they do.

Ace vid, really enjoyed that. Decent production values! That's how you promote trials to the masses.
It's a shame most trials vids are terrible street scenes filmed on what must be camera phones by parkinsons sufferers. Does no justice for good riders and hardly promotes the sport.

get the drill out on various places
Lol, from the looks of the frame already he's not gonna manage a tarty special on that one!

That's amazing (way nicer than the Rockman dude), the spec/geo makes it look like the ultimate natural/comp bike. You picked the right colour, the black is boring. And weighing in at under 8kg, thats just awesome.

You need to strip it back, key it, and prime it before you paint it. Have a look at the guide on the wiki http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/wiki/How_to_paint_a_frame it's got loads of good tips.

My Echo has taken the odd dunt to the bashplate with no ill effects, certainly no cracking. I think Greetings is bang on though, bash plate isn't designed for landing on, so if you use it to mount obstacles on a regular basis, it's going to break, wether it's a deng or any other make.

so hes a computer testing, custom frame making, bikeshop owning, married, single man, with 3 kids, swinging batchelor, does software testing for microsoft and other such folk, rides for a " french bike manufaturer and now hes apparently a rocket scientist! f**king hell pete where the hell do you fit in masturbation...
I can't stop laughing I have no idea who this guy is, but there's obviously a good story behind it.
Oh, and lets face it. We all know someone like 'Pete'

I've heard mixed reviews of the SL's too. I really liked the sound of a super light front end, but perhaps not well matched with my general fatness I'm using Lites at the moment, they've been really good, not a problem to report, might be worth searching out a set as a good compromise between weight and strength.
-
I think its pretty much identical, but the alloy bolts/cups make the echo lighter.
Moe has just tipped the scales at 275g including the cups and bolts (my bike is in a box in pieces right now so I thought I'd go check ), thats a good 30g lighter than the Echo's claimed weight. Maybe mine is an anomaly.

That really is quality riding for 4 weeks man nice manual at the beggining of the vid too, I still can't do those

Square taper cranks also have more material around the BB so are infact less likely to break.
I don't really see how that's possible. Granted, it's been a very long time since I've had a square taper crank/bb. But isn't the whole point of the isis system a greater surace area in contact between the crank and the bb? If I'm not mistaken, the isis bb spindles are larger in diameter than their square taper equivalents too. So, larger diameter + multiple splines (instead of 4 flat sides) = less likely to strip or round. No?

since when is 2 Kgs heavy? You people are ridiculous.
Here here. My old Levelboss stock was heavier than that, and it was awesome.

Bow looks pimp, I'd have one. Never been the biggest Onza fan, but I hear the Ice is very good. How about the soon to arrive Limey 320? Now thats nice.
-
They are cheaper (for the bottom brackets) . I think that's about it.
So the bb's are cheaper, the bit thats steel, so the expensive bit, ie the crank, breaks quicker, being the softer aluminium bit.......see where I'm going? False economy. Isis for the win

I only run about 15 psi in my back. Not sure i would if it wasn't for the tube, I started using these huge 20x4" monsters that seems to keep you rolling with very little air in them. Seem lots thicker too, haven't had a puncture since I started using them (maybe I'm not trying hard enough ). They're heavy though.
-
Its more of a thing with taper cranks.
Your using the taper to hold the cranks so your forcing hard steel into softer aluminium so there is some initial movement.
Isis shouldn't.
Fair do's, that makes sense, and is really exactly what happened with old square taper cranks I raced on. Which begs the question, why do people still use taper cranks?
-
This can happen and is quite normal acctually....
Really? I've never had this happen on a trials bike. I have only ever used isis splined cranks/bbs though, is it a square taper issue? The only time I've had a similar sounding problem was on my downhill racer, and that was a case of too much pressure moving metal = buggered.

I guess around 1998 MBUK published pictorials featuring Hawyes and Ashton hopping around on small bikes , then I bought the famous Tricks and Stunts video ( LOL VHS ) and was hooked .
I remember both of these things so well, I must have been all of 13 or 14 at the time. I used to love seeing these crazy blokes doing things on bikes I could only aspire to. I raced xc for years before I took up trials (from the age of 8!). The two Martyns were deffo where it started for me (or maybe it was Hans Rey actually, it was so long ago now I can't remember....), and if I'm not mistaken it wasn't that long after that that Chris Akrigg appeared on the scene, I think he was the swaying factor, a cross county rider doing these things made me think all of a sudden that I might have a chance. He rode a Pace rc250 at the time. Man I wanted one of those so badly. Then I wanted Eddie Tongues Pashley. It was around then I started riding trials, I would have been about 16-17ish. I used an old gt zaskar. What a heap that was All ended only a year or so later after a collosal crash on a downhill course back home in NI. I rode trials again after about a year of being able to do nothing, but my confidence had been so badly knocked I gave up after only a few weeks. This is about 7 years later and I've been back riding for about half a year. What prompted this? F**k knows. I just wanted to ride again. So I built up a cheap mod and started riding. Love it even more than the first time round now. And I'm learning faster too.

I Had a loose crank for about 3 weeks. I had to keep tightening it up every 5 - 10 mins for 3 weeks. then 2 days ago it stayed tight and it hasn't come loose since. Is this normal for trials cranks.
In a word; no. If it's working itself loose constantly theres obviously something wrong. If they've stayed tight all of a sudden without you doing anything else then I'd be pretty suspicious as to why. Maybe take 'em apart, make sure everything is ok (incidentally, what kind of crank/bb combo are you running?), then re-grease them properly and tighten everything up again. That way, if you're doing any serious damage to your crank/bb, you at least have a chance to prevent any more and possibly save them.

I know it's not on your list, but I've been using a Moe isis for about 5 months now, i got it pretty cheap off ebay (just came across it by chance and decided to give it a shot). It's similar in spec to the echo tr, but lighter. Has been good, it's still running smoothly despite the hideous weather i ride in daily, can't really complain.

I wish there was more of this. I'm getting bored of seeing streety stuff all the time.
