Hello there, i used a rear deng freehub and it was pants! It broke and shattered on me when riding along. As for the urban rim they are great rims i am running one now; strong, light and cheap.
Hope this helps Ollie.

Hello i have recently sprayed my own frame, if your looking for a power coat look i would recommend that you buy matt paint, e.g. saterine black.
First thing i would do is rub it back to the primer or base coat, then two light layers of saterine black and see what you think i did this and it looks amazing so sprayed my forks to match.
Hope this helps Ollie.

They wont take the abuse of trials i'm affraid, look for a second hand hope hub of some variety preferably a pro2 if you can get it.
ok thanks ollie.

Hello there trials forum
Recently my rear echo freehub has packed up and is beyond repair, I have recently found a Shimano lx freehub for sale and was wondering if they are any good for trials use and if they have problems.
Thanks Ollie,
-
Hello, I have tried both and i much prefer un-painted smooth rims as they hold better and also when wet gives slight better breaking performance,
however Really depends on pads
hope this helps Ollie.

hello, here is a couple of cheap ways to protect your frame;
Old inner-tubes
Garden hose (like Alex said)
Old bike tyres
Plastic bottles
Hope this helps you Ollie.

VERY high carcass though, you'll have more issues with this than a standard try-all I believe. I'd say get a second hand Try-all stiky front tyre

alex adam was running one and they were amazing

hi there you could go on tartybikes.co.uk and buy a try-all super slick which is the lightest tyre you can get and has no tread, which is surprisingly grippy. They retail at £30 i believe.
cheers Ollie

Stock yeah?
18/15 and 18/16 were popular last time i looked. I liked 18/15 or 18/14. Obviously if you're not restricted then you could use 22/18 etc
Anyhow. For stock with 14t rear 16t freewheel is the viable option. 18/14 is a tad heavy for most, but i roll ride more than i static ride.
You can get new sprockets for the Echo Freehubs can't you? Maybe just get a 15t then an 18t freewheel. Larger freewheel is way safer and more reliable generally.
Here they are. Swear they were much cheaper than that before.
Hi i believe you cannot get echo free-hub sprocket changes and how would 14:16 be dangerous? if chain is tensioned wont matter will it?
thanks ollie

Also the free-hub has a cast steel sprocket with the paw holders and spring on it

Will anyone help me?

Hi there recently my echo free-hub has packet up, So i have cleaned it and made sure the paws are in engaged on the hub, then i got so metal glue (Alex Dark and others have told me its good so I used it) in the inside of my hub. Although this is well and good my free-hub has the weirdest back gear as it is a 14t. So i was wondering what is the best freewheel I should buy 16t? 18t?.
thanks Ollie

Hello there the Onza ice is a very nice frame indeed, but the dropouts have had a tendency to crack. With that in mind the are light, strong(apart from the dropouts). The dropouts are still safe once cracked though so dont let this put you off.

I'm 5 8" and ride a Coustellier V2 that measures up at 1110 with my forks

ok thanks for all your help i have found a local shop and they will re tap my bb thread for £4
thanks ollie.
-
How extensive is the damage? Do you have any pics?
If the thread is just slightly damaged then a file should suffice but if there is heavy damage then you'll have to find someone who has a big enough Tap.
hi thanks the damaged isnt really bad but i think a thread file would cure it but i i dont think it would last long
-
Hi there i have recently picked up a zona frame and on insprecting the bb thread i noticed that some of the threads are damaged and i believe that they can be fixed but what is the best method as i don't think i can get a tap that size so would a thread file or something work.
thanks ollie

If I were you I'd save the cash to get a decent freehub like the Pro II. Sure, it'll cost a bit more in the short term than repairing the Echo, but those things are notorious for being rather dodgy. I think it tends to be the ratchet coming loose causing loss of engagement, though a quick search should confirm if that's true.
A Pro II will set you back about £120 new, or half that second hand. To go FFW you'd have to get a new rear hub, a freewheel, possibly new cranks if yours aren't threaded etc and to get those items at the same build quality as the Hope you'll be looking at considerably more. If funds are low go down that route - the actual performance side of things won't be drastically different and so to some extent is down to personal preference on that front.
That frame's been through a whole load of people now so it shouldn't have cost you much, leaving funds for whatever parts you do need to sort the drivetrain out.
Hi thank you for all your help and also i got the frame for 20 pound with one little dent in the downtube, also my funds are low because i have put all funds into my ped and getting on the road so if anyone could sell me a fixed hub for like a 10er (not likely) then this would help cheers Ollie
The ratchet ring is glued in, which means with trials use it unsticks and becomes useless.o Really this is the problem that explains why the paws/rachets keep falling out of place and this is why it jamed and snapped the spring clip hmmm i think a replaced is a must
Ollie

Cool stuff - I helicoiled the mounts in it too so they'll be spot on
Not sure how changing his whole drivetrain setup makes sense though...
I agree but this freehub has been giving me trouble so is it really worth it?
Ollie
-
It's your old one too...
ditch the freehub and go FFW it makes sense
I would mate but funds are low for the moment so until then i either need some one to give me a hub and free wheel or repair my hub either way it doesn't look good
In that case save up.
Echo freehubs are lethal.
[/quocould u explain as i am not sure what u mean as a lethal hub surely it will be ok if fixed? right Ollie
-
Echo freehubs are toss, bin it and buy a hope pro II.
I would but as far as my funds are I am in no postition to buy a new hub so would like to repair what i have
-
There good.
Ok thank you i will build up soon
-
Zona Zeniths look to have a decent geometry. Build and see if you like it.
sure will Also ONE more important thing i have a echo freehub and it has broke on me the spring it self has snapped would you know a place where i could get hold of one of these please,
many thanks Ollie
-
Hi there
I have recently got my hands on a Zona Zenith frame and was just wondering if it is worth building it up as I am not 100% sure its a good frame to start on, has anyone rode one or riding a Zona now? many thanks Ollie
-
A good old mission prodigy but snapped in 3 weeks of having the bike so got a saracen mad for £50 with maguras was a good buy
