  1. It's £39, not really that much. I just split with the g/f so the £39 was her xmas present money which is now my get drunk rapidly money fund! I would spend way more than £39 on a night out! It's about the same as a decent rim delivered from Tartybikes

  2. I've said it before... ISO2, simmer down with the attitude a bit an you'll be a much better contributor.

Okay sorry but i really would do some measuring and checking out. It might be more aparant after you have had a Pro II in hand not as a wheel or in bits

  3. Muel knows about the different hub shells, and as he said if you read his post properly, he has done the measurements and believes there is enough room. Personally I think the only proper way to do it would be to lose the disc mount and take as much off the NDS as possible, and then you can keep all the bearings in. You could make a mod Bulb or XC like Ed, but why modify weak hubs when the vastly superior Pro II is available?

At the time the Pro II was not even on a frawing bord thats why! I still say it has to be a STD MTB Pro II. The Shell width is too much for 116mm then plus drive and thus keeping disc mount. I will measure mine

  4. Errm, dude it's been done. I've also measured it up and it's definately possible.

The hub shell is zero dish, but that doesn't mean to so you can't build it with a dish, to move the rim 10mm over to the left requires a tiny difference in the angles of the spokes.

You can also take material off both side of the hub, that's how danny swindlehurst's was done, but it makes the disc mount useless.

Pro II trials is a different shell to the std Pro II. It's wider. I know you can build a wheel with with dish. I have been a avid viewer here for ages. Everyone is forgetting one person whom did this.

Edd Potts, he made a Hope XC or Blub not sure which fit a mod. Was way before all this Pro II rubbish!

  5. A Pro II Trials/Singlespeed would not work. The hub shell is zero dish and is wide. Plus it is 6sp so limited material to mod.

A Pro II would work as you can just shorten the drive shell down, axle and maybe a little bit on the disc side.

Best bet is get a dead Pro II trials and see if the drive shell will work due to the length it is on the std Pro II hub.

  6. Okay lets try a different way.

Shins heal pretty fast and hurt for a good hour if you wack them!

Your face will hurt for ages, girls will avoid you, you use it to eat etc etc! Takes forever to heal.

You can jump over the bike should forks fail.

Drive is what will keep you on that back wheel!

The weight you have will help you get bigger as they way you ride, use the bike as a lever.

  7. if you put say 5mm washers inside of the bolt and frame, it will act as a bigger bolt head, for the snail cam to push up against, this giving u 5mm more chain tension, doesnt sound alot, but it is lol.

Someone sticky that!!! Just tried it and at last i have my bike properly set up! Never though of it my self!

A steel washer is best really

  8. i have been riding since augast

i just waant to upgrade my bike gradually rather than get a whole new bike

my onza rip is just standard with no new parts oor anything

Okay cool i can relate to that.

I've Googled to see what it is and spec and it's basic. Sorry to be harsh.

The main 2 things in trials is drive and brakes. Having a decent drive chain will help you with moves, control and getting bigger and better. Brake help you stop and stay put.

When i started i changed my drive to a new higher engament hub, then my pads as i had HS33's already, then bar and stem, forks and latter i killed the frame so a new frame. All the upgrades carried on over into the new frame!

  9. So what do you reccomend doing at the gym, what kind of things for how long etc?

Will be swimming as well to help.

Swimming is more harsh than any of it. I'll be honest i can't swim for nothing. I sink, not even able to do a length as im exhuasted!

8 rep done 4 times, so 32 reps total.

Decent weight so it hurst by 5/6th rep but pulling by the 4th.

You want to do bit of you body as you'll burn out otherwise.

Shoulders, chest, tri, bi, tracks will make you look toned and bigger. Each item there has manny different means of working them.

If you got free weights use them, it will make you stronger due to the control needed.

You want him to work at (a theoretical) 100% heartrate for 30 minutes? Could that be taken as manslaughter when he has a heart attack?

rocktrials - most of the other stuff he's said is cool, but pay no attention to that. 220-age is a very basic way of estimating your maximum heart rate, i.e. the fastest your heart can theoretically beat. To get a good aerobic workout, i.e. fat burning, you want to aim for 80% or above this figure. So if you're 22 you want to be aiming for above 158 (80% of 198).

Might want to go and check it out with a proper PT or PTI. My local gym has an ex Royal Marine and he's mentaly fit. He is the one whom gave me the heartbeat and age thing. Try it, not everyone will be able to give that max heart rate for 30mins!

  10. First is lose the belly, then work on toning up.

I though this too but nah. As you get big you'll even out a little and that belly goes. Not only that your going to up your hearbeat and this is CV and will burn fat.

My workout is Anerobic and this is CV and weightlifting in one. It cuts, tones, builds, shapes. It hurts for a bit till you get going.

Take you age, then 220 - your age = xxx thats the heartbeat you need to keep for 30 mins to burn fat.

Also as you lift the weight you will use your abs, do a lat pull down topless. When i do an 80kg straight cable lat pull down wide grip i can see my stomach abs going as i clentch to pull the weight down, even though it's a back workout!

Youtube the sofa abs workout, i did it for a month and it was a good starter. However having a 6 pack aint all it, being toned is and a 6 pack really gentics due to having the muscle there in the 1st place!

  11. Free weights are always the best. You will use a totaly different aray of muscle to lift and control the weight.

Machine weight are okay but will only use the muscle for the purpos of the lift, not the control.

It's not about how big you can lift, so everyone going i can do this and that wow. Can you do 50kg on smith machine 8 times then 3 more sets?

I use to train with the Southwest Weight lifter Champ, huge sod and everything.

I learnt a lot from him and it worked.

8 reps (you lift 8 times)

4 sets (you do the 8, 4 times with a rest betwen)

Train with friends, it'll spur you on and help

Going big aint smart, nor cool nor will get you big

Eat proper, 6 small meals a day and proper food

Muscle only grows due to protien, so get a shake thats got at least 40g of protine

    Stay away from the jucie/roids

Beer will hamper muscle groth by 1 week! So limit!

Smoking deplets muscle groth due to killing off vit c!

Use a weight that starts to pull by 4/5th rep, with 6 and 7th being tought and having to puch for the 8th.

If it's to heavy and your not able to lift it then lower it, if you go to the gym 3 times a week and eat right, supliment and sleep right in less than a month you could X2 that weight and do it controled! Everyone had to start and work up.

Never push or clench when lifting, it'll do nothing but make you look like a muppet.

If with a mate help each other, make it a game, a controled game, spot each other, push each other.

Train in stages daily with lots of rest, one day on etc with weekend as rest!

Sleep for at least 8 hours every night, this is when you grow!

Doing the stack (all the weights) is not cool nor smart unless your massive

Knowing what you really want 1st helps

  12. What do you deam as too stiff? After a box load of Viagra or a shot of cocaine directly in there...? There is no medium to how stiff is stiff. You can have really stiff.

Every booster will flex some what, how well it's been drawn to prevent this is where the stiffness comes in.

XTR and Heatsink will not move, RB etc all flex.

Watch your mounts as you pump the leaver fully, they spray out from the length of the mount, top to bottom all in one go.

So 4 bolt is better as stops all movment along the length.

4 bolt is stiffer than 2 bolt due to the location of flex reduction.

The grip will not decrease with a booster, it will go up as there is no place for the presure exerted to go in terms of slipping or being weaker. It'll be harder and stiffer with a hard pad compound, soft well soft is soft.

  13. Why not use a heat gun then some acetone or nail polish remover ??

They are not often tools in the workshop. Perhaps if your a woman or your mum and sister use it as a tea room.

Plus heat will wreck paintwork as most will over cook it!

    :)

nice thread, helpful stuff, too. Have a validation vote! ;)

    Ta very much!
