  1. I actually like the old school camera vibe. Nice tune as well!

So good to see an instant improvement in someone's riding just via a change of bike.

Let's ride soon, show me how this street lark is done!

Haha yeh I agree on the 'old school' look! Quite like it. I was listening to this song throughout the evening, so thought it appropriate.

I'm pleased you notice an improvement, as it can only get better once i'm fully used to the bike!

  2. Have to agree there. I actually found this to be my favourite video of Euans and didn't care whatsoever about the fact it was 1990s DV cam quality :D

Thanks man, I quite enjoy watching it back as well compared with some of my other videos. Was quite fun to make on my own!

Stand a bit further back this time.

Now matter how "superior" your equipment, bad filming makes for a bad video.

I agree on a certain level with this; but I think James' most recent work with me has become better on that front.

Should be fun filming from now on anyway; he has got a fish eye for some close up shots :P

(don't worry we won't film the whole video with it)

  3. looks more like lathe work to me

I filed the tab remnants down, and then used some wet and dry to get rid of any scoring.

A lathe was not used as there would have been no easy way to hold it in a chuck or collet without making up a jig.

ground off first then lathed I think.

You say you've used a lathe George?

Probably best to get the terminology right first...

  4. Well if you wasnt bothered about running disk, it'd mean you didnt have to modify the drive side as much, so you'd have a bit more adjustment for the sprocket to get better chain line, and the hub flanges would be more central so you'd get a stronger wheel build and you wouldnt have to dish it as much.

The dishing of it won't effect the strength of the build much at all. Being such a small, wide wheel as it is.

But yes, i could have cut down the end cap on the non-drive side a bit, and allow about 5-10mm of extra room. But that would have arisen other problems with the freehub body not being stable with only one set of bearings holding such a wide distance from the shell.

Right, this is the finished product.

I've obviously done it differently to Danny, as I don't have a huge spacer next to it :P

I am pretty confident it will work, and have clamped it up right to check and all seems well.

Time to build the wheel and test it properly I guess.

If anyone wants an exploded view of this I shall endeavour to do some pictures tomorrow.

I've completely changed the inside of the freehub body.

  6. I would like people to know that this video was created in preparation of me having my wrist operated on, on friday.

I wanted to go brakeless for a bit because I enjoy a bit of change in my riding, plus it allows certain tricks to be performed easier.

There was no point/time trying to learn and make a 'serious, proper' video as I will soon be in a cast for 8 weeks; and I wanted to have a bit of fun filming something different so people still know i'm riding.

As you know I haven't made a 'proper' video in a long while, this is because I recently found out i broke my wrist in May last year; and have been living with the pain for about 7-8 months now. Which has stopped me having as much fun, and improving on my riding.

I hope to change this when I get back on the bike after i recover :)

Besides, i don't rid because i want to learn more tricks and film them.
I think people forget that riding is all about having FUN; not about trying to be the best or learning the biggest/best tricks. So in a way, I think this video is a better representation of what I do then any of my others.

  7. I used to use tar all the time with a Vee brake on Coust pads, it worked very well but I he'd the way it tends to 'stick' and then stopped using it.

I found on a smooth rim, if you clean it with acetone or brake cleaner; then the brake works amazingly and it quite loud as well!
