  1. I thought I was big at 6ft5! Feel your pain bro!
  2. After a quick fresh grind on a new rim, the new bike was good to go. Just been out for a quick ride, the first in 10 years or so. Holy mother of god it was hard work! The basics came back very quickly and I was soon hopping about on the rear, just like before, (not quite as refined though)! But my god it never used to be that intensive! It's amazing how fit you can be and not even realise it. Back in the day (and as I'm sure most of you are now), riding for hours on end was relatively straight forward. Certainly an eye opener for me and all the more insentive to get back on it and back to somewhere I used to be! If I can give one bit of advise to any younger riders on here (especially those who are coming up to driving license age!), keep something up on the side when you get your car and don't give up things like riding bikes! If you don't use your fitness as you have it now, where you haven't really had to 'work' for it, you will end up like me and you will find it bloody hard to get it back! Although being slightly frustrated at my low stamina, it was great to arse about on a bike again! Anyone around Oxon / Northants who fancies laughing at a lanky wheezing oddball on a bike give me a shout and we'll go for a ride!
  3. Yeah I work in Brackley so North isn't far at all for an after work ride when the clocks change and this wet stuff does one!
  4. Hey marshole82 I'm in a similar boat to you! Just getting back into it all after a looooong break! I'm a big boy too! 6ft 4 and 16st! Im in Banbury but work in Brackley, fancy an old school ride when you're sorted??? Dan
  5. Well after pi**ing about without one for the last 10 years, I've just bought me a trials bike. Oh dear...

  6. Hi All, Been out of the game for about 10 years. Just decided on a whim that I'm going to buy a bike and start again. Found a DB Kabuki Mono very local to me for a bargain so I bought it. I know it's not going to be 'awesome' but i dont really care about the bike as it's just somthing to go riding on (and compared to the cobbled together things we used to ride 15 years ago it's a work of art!) Anyone local to Banbury / Oxford / Brackley / Northampton etc fancy putting up with a lanky, aging, slightly overweight, unfit chap trying to be cool again and go for a ride? Cheeeeeers, Dan
  7. OK! Before this gets shut down for breaking the rules (which I've only just read!). I shall source my own bike making this no longer a wanted thread Any advice would still be appreciated! Anyway without a bike this forum would be irrelevant to me so a bit of a catch 22!
  8. What's NMC? Im in Byfield. A bout 30 mins from you.
  9. Hi guys, Used to ride about 7 years ago (ish). just getting the bug to go back out again! I need a cheap bike to start playing on! Someone must have something or some parts knocking about for which i can build a bike out of on a budget! Cheers, Dan
