  1. LATE 2012: the day would soon come for my Atomz QUARK 2 frame to hang on the wall, next to its older sibling. I rode it for about 2 years & 2 months and it has a couple of tiny dents but no cracks.

I made a few videos whilst riding it, and it seemed fitting to complete my time on this frame with a number of lines that I'd been wanting to capture on film for some time.

Part 2 features a guest appearance from Jon Tollerud (USA), currently studying in Melbourne. As winner of the 2012 GETcreative Video Contest, obviously he has great style but also a great attitude to match. As a rider I've admired for many years, I was privileged to have him visit and ride our rocks.

Once again, I wanted to show some of the great coastal locations in Sydney.
Thank you to The Bike Shed Mortdale and Atomz for their support…

    …au revoir, Atomz.
    (for now)

In part 1, I wanted to do something a little different and leave out one particular element of trials riding.

  3. Riding at a spot in Sydney's south with great historical significance, the day before Atomz Quark 2 turns two years old and rider adds another notch to his late 20's!

Thanks to Matt (sorry no clips - next time!) & Joel (the man behind Trials is Dead/Section 2) for coming along.

  4. Which length?

all of them 380mm chainstay and 72º head angle.

    Short- 1075 wb, +45 bb

    Medium- 1085 wb, +50 bb

    Long- 1095 wb, +55 bb

The geo of each are also on the actual frames themselves, on the non-drive side chainstays

  5. Riding at some areas close to home. Filmed over a few morning rides in Apr/May 2012.

Tried to get some stuff other than rocks on the coastline!

Nothing huge but still fun, which is what matters most.

Reckon a few of you will enjoy it wavey.gif

  6. Cheers guys :)

The geo as stands is 1075/+30/385, the forks are short rake (zhi R26L) so the wheelbase has dropped a bit, theyre also shorter crown-axle so the bars dropped somewhat, the taller stem has alleviated that though. I also had to go to a sloped top cap because the forks had been cut short to suit, its all good though and seems to ride well. The yellow racelines do stand out a bit like a sore thumb (I think because I dont have the raceline lever fitted) but my old slaves had finally given up the ghost, being best part of 16 years old and the racelines were given to me for free!

Should be attending radfest if you fancy a go on my flexy titanium thing :D

Is it quite flexy? Not sure if you're kidding haha.

And how, relative to cheap Chinese brand frames - if you're able to tell/have ridden one of them before?

  7. "Which pads are better, LGM (green) or Belaey (blue)?"

Combine the lock of the LGM and the modulation of the Belaey, add some glue and the result - new TNN Be-Green pad... interesting.

I saw these prototypes at TNN late last year and they looked promising, now in production!

They should be available from your local dealer shortly. More info here: http://tnnengineering.com/15701.html

I have a set on the way and will put them through a good test, I reckon!

**The Be-Greens are a limited run of 150 Magura and 30 Vee pads only!!**

*sorry if this is a double post, I thought I made a thread in the News forum yesterday but it's not there..

  9. Atomz Quark 2.. few upgrades

I've had the bike for just over 6 months now and it still feels great.. best bike I have owned!

It feels stiff and light, without being flexy and fragile.

Sometimes wonder if I should have got the Medium frame, but it's too late and I feel that my riding is better than ever anyway.

I switched to front Magura last week, had a spare fork and thought I'd give it a try to see what all the hype's about... it's powerful!!!

Weight is now 8.86 kg, enjoy

TNN mounts, Belaey pads, brake bled with water/coolant mix

    fbrake.jpg

Ti bolts in stem, Try-all carbon bar, dual 4-finger levers

  10. There is 1 rider that I know of in Wollongong, Chris Martin - he actually lived in the UK for a bit, a few years ago.

He rides mostly DH but will ride trials if you ask him to! Haha

Otherwise it's only an hour up to Sydney, where there is TONNES of coastal natural and about ~10 active riders.

I'd look at the OTN -> Australia forum where a lot more Australian riders post.

  11. A bracelet worn by high profile sports stars that claims to improve athletic performance has been exposed as a sham by the consumer watchdog.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has ordered Power Balance Australia to refund all customers who feel they were misled by the supposed benefits of Power Balance bracelets.

The wristbands were touted as providing better balance, strength and flexibility by working with the wearer's "natural energy field".

    200_toon-200x0.jpg

English cricketers Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Strauss, AFL bad boy Brendan Fevola, St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt and NRL star Benji Marshall have all been known to wear the bracelets.

But ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel said in a statement: “Power Balance has admitted that there is no credible scientific basis for the claims and therefore no reasonable grounds for making representations about the benefits of the product.

“Its conduct may have contravened the misleading and deceptive conduction section of the Trade Practices Act 1974," Mr Samuel said.

"When a product is heavily promoted, sold at major sporting stores and worn by celebrities, consumers tend to give a certain legitimacy to the product and the representations being made."

The bracelets sell for $60 on the company's website.

Mr Samuel also warned that retailers that continue to sell the products with misleading advertising or packaging would be open to action from the ACCC.

Last month an independent review panel that deals with complaints about breaches of the therapeutic goods advertising code found that powerbalance.com.au violated the code.

Power Balance acknowledged it had breached the code and said the relevant claims had been removed from its website.

The company was also named in this year's Shonky awards.

Consumer advocate group Choice found the bracelets were just rubber bands with plastic holograms.

"The band was tested at CHOICE under controlled lab conditions which showed it did little else than empty purchasers' wallets," Choice said in October.
