  1. Going on a trials roadtrip tomorrow, ordered a gimbal last week to take some good shots and they haven't even assembled it yet. f**kers. So all I can do now is build myself a glidecam using some painting equipment, weights and wood.

I work at a film rental company, and we do a hell of a lot of gimbal hires nowadays. Generally for high action stuff, we recommend getting a second operator and a controller, and using them to control it. Requires a fine hand, but the current market of gimbals just aren't intelligent enough to react in the right way.

Saying that, the steadyshot feature on the DJI Ronin gimbals is as close as it gets at the moment, and it's what I'll be using to film the next trials video I shoot when I can eventually arrange a weekend filming with Mr Beaden!

Which gimbal did you opt for?

  2. So, a week of partying, hangovers, bikes and parkour later, seems we managed pitifully little! Was an awesome week though!

Huge shoutout to Lucas Ingram and Rachel Scott-Thompson (and flatmates) for places to stay, and Co-Op for silly cheap booze!

Heatsink and Radical Bikes also get a heads up for their support over the last year.

    So umm, enjoy!

  3. Obviously you've got it all backed up though right?

    The external was my backup...

Had time machine running on my second internal drive, only to find out that isn't showing any more than the time since it all happened, as if it's almost reset itself?

Basically 2 backups, and nothing now...

  4. Both my main MacBook hard drive, and my backup external hard drive have raped themselves within the space of two days...

that's 4 years of photos, coursework, video projects, memories and important documents gone...

Not to mention all my stuff I had prepped for uni interviews!

    Not cool

  5. When I got offered the chance to go and film at Radfest, I jumped at it! See Euan here doing some riding, changing his bike, then riding some more!
Shout outs go to Radical Bikes, JAF Bikes, Heatsink Bikes and Jack Meek for helping to bring this all together.
Oh, and Onza for some sick nights in drinking in front of the huge telly whilst it was raining a beaut!
    Enjoy Guys!!

  6. No offence Danny, but when you spoke to myself, and also Steve at Radfest, you were an immense bell whack about it. Your sense of self importance was so inflated, you even put Mr Beaden to shame! (Love you really Euan!!! ;) )

Your expectance of Heatsink to instantly turn round and sponsor you on the spot without any form of introduction or riding proof was ridiculous, and then the aggressiveness and anger you displayed when Steve said he would have to think about it was equally so. Seem's if people dislike you, then it must have been for this attitude, and therefore well justified in my opinion.

    Just my two cents worth

  7. Why do they even want that?

Part of a companywide check to see if we're stealing. Basically going to check it against the record of things I have bought from them, and then question me about everything I have bought elsewhere, which is 99% of the bikes to be honest!

  8. Work is asking for a full component list and corresponding receipts for every bike I own... How the f**k am I supposed to do that with 7 bikes ranging from 16 years old?! That and the fact I have bought a lot of second hand stuff and new stuff from other places....

    Assholes -.-

  9. Can someone clear up whether that 'first' video was called 'April 2009' or 'Inspired' for me?

It was "Danny Macaskill - April 2009 - Inspired Bicycles"

April 2009 was it's main title though, the Inspired was simply put as a title sponsor kinda deal!

  10. ONLY GONE AND GOT INTO ONE OF THE BEST COLLEGES LOCALLY TO FINISH MY A LEVELS!!!!!!!!

Also, i have a LOT of good mates there, and its within 5 minutes cycles of 2 B<X race tracks, some dirt jumps and about 15 minutes away from some DH trails. Safe to say i have landed on my feet! :D

Got Euan Beaden coming up tomorrow to stay for a week to ride bikes and film, then start at this new place on Monday :D

  11. I see what you mean, but what they are saying is that the A2 course follows on from the AS, so until you finish the AS, you won't have the skills to do the A2. They can't be run in parallel.

Basically, just had a call back from one local sixth form, saying they are going to get one of the tutors to get in touch with me to discuss it further. I can be hopeful eh?!

  12. You could ask if you could do an additional full A level in one year - same sort of relative amount of work as doing 2 further AS courses but would be spreading yourself a little less thin. Worth a try if all else fails at the very least. Either way you need to book in a good discussion with someone in a position of relative power.

Again, already been through this route, although unfortunately I get the standard "the A2 course follows on from the AS, and as such you could not do it without the skills learnt from that first year"

Yes, I am currently speaking to one local sixth form, who I may be able to convince. Pretty much on my last chance here! My current school won't see me, as as far as they are concerned, I am no longer a student.

  13. Have you done any other AS courses this far that you can carry on to the full A level? Presumably they have written in to their access agreement/similar that to 'graduate' you must be leaving with a certain number of credits from X sources hence the requirement, but have a good old chat with them - there's always a way.

Completed all my other courses, just because I started Media a year late, I have only done the first half. Sucks big time styley! Problem is, I am doing cinematography/film making at Uni, and so it is the one critical course for me really! >_<
