I have been completely destroying my DMR grips and I fancy some foam grips. Trialtech ones feel and ride great, I have tried my friends out and no complaints from me!
-
Hey!! I will try answer some of the stuff I have read haha!!
Erm.. Yes I live in Cleckheaton - it has a few spots I ride when I get the chance.
Saturday will be an earlyish ride - 11am sort of thing.
26" wont get you anywhere any faster than a 20" - ask Bronz - I have a mod and he rides stock and we still arrive at the same time.
20" is much easier to learn on and generally cheaper to start with.
I really should get facebook for riders haha

In my area there are very few riders so I mainly ride solo, but recently I have become more involved with the Leeds riders and travel most weekends to that neck of the woods for a ride. The other riders are a great asset because they help and inspire me to push myself at a more suitable rate than if I was to ride solo the whole time. Solo riding can be fun but I like the atmosphere of riding with mates. Going back to my thread about the variety of people I ride with. Controversial as it seems to have become, I think that explains best why I prefer group rides
-
onzaboymark - well it does seem that you have had the crappy end of a varied stick.
Of course fashion/trends are going to appear in things, its just what happens when people look at something and see it as the better option, they begin to follow. But MY EXPERIENCE OF TRIALS does not have the same outlook as yours.
I suppose you could say everything is the same?
BMX has cliches like the skinny jeaned, polo shirt hardcore kids group, the baggy clothed laid back groups, the brake-less groups, the free-coaster lovers, the old school riders, the true to the man groups... etc...etc...etc
Inline has the same kind of groups, the gangster end of the spectrum and the skinny jean end...etc...etc
Skateboarding has the 'mosher groups' the 'emo' groups, the 'hippy' groups etc...etc...etc
This could go on and on segregating people but as you can see the overall response on this thread is that people have been introduced to other people who view life different, do live in new ways and so forth. They are effectively broadening their horizons.
Personally, I have not seen the same level of self-being in Trials as I have in BMX, inline, boarding . As a inline skater, and having played with BMX and skateboarding, they all have a pronounced long standing hatred of each others sport (not everyone FYI) In trials thus far I have not come across the same problem.
I was being broad in my context of the original thread - Evidently others prefer to nit-pick.

The group of people I have begun to ride with is such a varied group of people, its fantastic!
Stereotypes get thrown out the window when it comes to riding, or at least that is the picture I am getting from it. I ride with people who prefer tracksuits; people who are pierced; people who ride stock; people who ride mod; street style riders; natural riders; older riders; younger riders; long haired; short haired; people who like hip-hop; people who like trance; people who like dub-step; people who like rock music.
So many types of people all come together to ride their bikes without discrimination from others. Apart from the more than common' "why has your bike got no seat?"
That is one of the major reasons that I love to ride, not the fitness aspect, not the challenge, but the sense of community and support everybody has for one another.
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

I seem to be the only one I know of.
I have seen a few ride through in the past but never had the opportunity to ask for contact details!

Quality riding lads!
I love riding Leeds, its a great place, all my riding buddies congregate there

HAHA Leeds University Water Feature haha

Sorry for the whinging
I try to make my posts easy to understand and generally acceptable to all. Obviously not everybody will appreciate but glad you do

Great video!

Hey guys, I am needing to do some tweaks and adjustments to my bike and I was wondering if you could help me.
If any of you can link me to some good how to videos on the following topics, I would massively appreciate it
- Water Bleeding
- Magura Hose Shortening
Cheers

To Revolver - Good thoughts in that one.
To Jackibrap - Tarty Bikes will always be the best in my eyes, but for the urgency of a Sunday fix it was brilliant. I dont know if that guy was in, the guy who did my freewheel was a younger lad with a stretched ear.I will have to check that video
To anybody else - Just to clarify I am not putting down the store, just sharing my experience that day
-
too be honest I have removed them before and I know they can be a pain, but it was a 2second job with the vice.
-
As I am sure you will know, I am not slating the shop itself, mostly the singular guy who as u both can vouch for me in this instant, was rather brash and ignorant when we asked him about the freewheel.
The shop itself and all the other guys I spoke to downstairs were quality guys! Just that one guy who may have been having a bad day.

Yesterday I destroyed my freewheel riding Leeds Uni, which was rather gutting as I was due to ride Shipley Glen today. So after a few drinks, the decision was made to visit AireValley Cycles this morning and fix the issue.
Upon arrival everything was going grand and I bought the tools and new freewheel (Tensile - Rides like a dream btw), and I asked the guy serving us if maybe they could assist in the removal of the freewheel just to make things easier... and the guy had an awful attitude towards me! In a smug/annoyed tone told me I would have to leave the bike with them and it would take a while because they had loads on. Bearing in mind all I asked was for the old freewheel to be undone, not for them to actually remove, fit and sort my cranks. With this I left the store, disassembled my bike outside the shop and went back in with only the crank arm and the freewheel attached. Asked the same guy how long I would have to wait for it to be done, he told me if I went downstairs to the workshop they would do it for free!
In the end I paid a quid for the removal and a freewheel spacer! I just felt there was no need for the attitude on the employee's behalf. The shop overall is fantastic and I massively appreciate what they did for me today.

My 1st real trials bike was a Mission Prodigy when I was about 17, which I went on to snap the forks on.
But what got me first into trials was watching motortrials, then meeting a guy who had a very very old Monty and he lent me it for a month while he want to Australia on holiday.
I was about 8/9 when I borrowed the Monty though.

Cheers for that fella! I have been looking at the Magnesium version myself. A riding buddy (Bronz) rides a pair and they feel great under foot.
-
I currently have a pair of caged pedals and these where fitted purely because I needed a cheap option when I built the bike.
Now I am looking for a pair of platform pedals, could anybody maybe suggest some pedals as I am out of touch with the better end of the market.

And don't worry about being new to it, everyone starts somewhere and I always found riding/skating/playing rugby etc with talented people pushes you to get better

I know that this is not the correct area for posting this but I as of yet are not validated to post in the correct section.
I apologize for this in advance.
Is anybody interested in riding Leeds tomorrow? So far there is only two riders, myself and dann2707.
We are meeting at 12 o'clock at the train station by the large granite walls.

that was my warm up mate haha

I tried to make some videos but I only had my Blackberry on me so I made the effort but I don't fancy posting them haha!
I went to the local spots again and managed to make a few gaps I had failed yesterday so BIG WIN for me
This is where I rode today, AKA The Volkswagon Van Garage...

I vary when riding. Some times I am in the mood for music and others I cant get into the flow with it on.
When I have it on, I enjoy post-core like A Skylit Drive, Alesana, etc. Dubstep is another genre I can ride to, the dirtier the better I say with Dubstep, like Borgore and Jakwob
