  1. Something like a Rohloff will give great performance but is still in the way a tad. Perhaps a 74kingz style arrangement would suit you? How much slack does the tensioner need to take up, is there a lot of excess chain?

Yer there's a far bit of excess chain

  2. I haven't been back onto trials that long after a 12 year gap and am slowly getting my bike to a setup that suits me. I'm pretty much there now but it's time for a new tensioner. At the mo I'm using a fixed dmr one and it hasn't took long to realise that it's shocking. Want to move on to a sprung tensioner so wondering which ones are good. Need one that can take a beating because it's on the side I side hop.

  3. I usually park on clarence road or york road... both are around the corner from the train station & free (or at least some of the road is free - check all signs!). Not sure about safe but have parked plenty of times before and have been ok.

Are you coming Mannings? And Rowan - hear your off the bike for a while, sucks dude but will you be about?

Cheers mate. Just realised that I claimed 3-4 hours away. That would prop be more correct if I was riding there lol. Hour and a half away. What time are people planning on meeting and where (name of road please).

Not gonna lie I might have to blag a day off and trek down for this. Coming from Reading so i'm going on about 3-4 hours away. I'll let you know closer to the day for def. Got a name of a road I can park. Free and safe please!

    Cheers

    Dan

  5. Who would be up for coming over to the isle of wight for a ride in the summer. I have managed to get two of my mates who used to ride on bikes again now, and there are two others that do as well. So only 5 of us :( The others of which some pompey riders may know are not riding anymore, so the sport is becoming more scarse over here.

Just thought it might be a change of scenery for some of you.

So let me know if you would be interested. I'll bump the topic nearer the time to organise something properly.

I'm happy to come down and join you. Cant do 30th 31rd and 1st as I'm at a wedding but any other time is good as long as I have a bit of notice. Prop be able to get a few guys down with me

  6. As the title states I'm going through the painfull period. Not really complaining as its just cuts and bruises but everytime I go out I end up shedding blood! This phase started a few weeks ago. Reasons behind it being I'm starting to push the bar up now. The most anoying thing is slipping a pedal. Its bad enough mashing a shin but then hitting an already mashed shin is the most anoying part of it. I've even got to the point where I've ordered shin protection which I'm not keen on but fed up with blood on my trainers. Also I have bruises that I have no idea where they've come from and thats not through beering it up.

Well now I've got that off my chest let us know of your injuries and enoying falls.

Keep pushing your riding guys and the bigger the better!

  7. I am currently running a smooth rim and want abit of tar on it to help. I tried putting the tar on the rim and none comes off on to the rim ( i think it to hard ) is there anything i can do to it, to make it so it goes on the rim. I have allready tried rubbing it on a ruff serface then trying this also didn't help.

    any suggestions welcom.

What tar are you using. I tried using some that I picked up from some newly laid road and had the same trouble. Then got some felting tar off a friend that's a roofer. The stuff they use for flat roofs and works a treat. Spin the wheel and softly (I stress softly) push onto the rim. It doesn't need a lot to work. I'd also advise grinding the rims. If your pushing your riding your bike will have dents and scratches all over it so who cares about how it looks.

  8. Hi all,

Have been riding with a group of guys that all use this forum for the past few weeks, must say I'm blown away by the standard of riding these guys produce and just how chilled and relaxed atmosphere is. I was told about this forum from a good friend that I ride with. He's only been riding for 6 or so months but he's a bit more clued up on the internet than I am. I had a look at the ride and locations and noticed that some guys were riding in reading (my local town) that sunday, not being a member decided to just turn up. Within about an hour from the meet time i'd seen some stuff that i'd normally only see on a youtube video. Had a great ride with them bar cutting it short to watch a horrible game of football (England-Germany). Since then I've met up with them a couple more times. They have told me to become a member so here i am. Only problem is I cant post any comments or replys to there ride meets. Kind of understand the reasons behind the whole needing to be voted in by existing members. Stops just anyone signing up.

Anyway names Dan, live in Reading, ride Trials, Dirt and a bit of downhill/freeride

Great forum. Be even better when I can use the whole thing

    Peace
