It was an act of desperation after bleeding 15 times with dot

Finally I got my brake working again. What did I do: After many times bleeding I bled with water. It got a good pressure point but the pistons of the caliper got stuck. So I bled with dot again. I realised I had used dot 4. This time I usd the recommended dot 5.1 and now it works. I am still not shure if it was the fluid or if I just had a buble of air trapped somewhere in the system. In any case, thanks for your advice.

I replaced all the seals including master cylinder. I just bled the system once again and I tried the procedure adam described. It's maybe a little better but far from being good. I checked if both pistons of the caliper move so none got stuck. I will compare the brake with my mate's brakes to see if I have turned neurotic. Does the tech lever provide more brake power than the mono? Because I tried one with tech levers yesterday. It is definitely a lot stronger.

OK, I'll bleed again and then try to clean it the way described.

The brake is 2010. If the lever is pulled slowly it goes further than if pulled quickly. Does that mean anything? There is no sign of leakage anywhere.

No, didn't clean anything. Was no need except of course after the bleeding but sure without the pads and the disc

Hi guys, my Hope Mono Trial with 180 mm disk lost its power without an obvious reason. I replaced all seals, pads and disk. Needless to mention the bleeding. It still hasn't regained its original break power. Any ideas? Regards Georg

Hey, I was involved in a german forum's chat discussing the age at which I started to trial bike. all of a sudden I realised, I was by far not the only one to start this sport aged over 40. In the first place I found it a bit embarassing but now that I found out I am not allone, I feel much more confident. How about you guys?

thanks for your answers. I can see that there is no common sense on this issue which is not a big surprise. The most useful statement for me is that with decent quality parts I will also be on a good path weight-wise. If I translate from mountainbiking to trial biking, I agree that it is not the same having a few grams less on the bike to having a few gramms off your body. It definitely is more fun riding a light bike. It gets addictive though and I must admit, when it gets to light weight parts, I am loosing reason sometimes - but who cares? regards georg

many trial bikes come with a magura luise with a 160mm disc. do you think this brake has more bite than the juicy?
