  1. Bringing this post back from the dead a little, but I finally made one!

Cut a BMX up, cut a turbo twist up, weld front end of turbo twist to BMX forks then back end of turbo twist to BMX frame and boom! DRIFT TRIKE! :)

    Whadda you think? :D

  2. That's what I thought.. But I'm sure MBUK reviewed them, and said you can only run even teeth on the back! I'll have to have another read over it properly to see if I miss read it but that's why I asked! It sounded a bit daft and very limiting to me! :)

  3. Hey guys!

Dunno if you guys know much about these new(ish) chainrings, but what's the restriction on running them? I've heard something about only being able to run even numbers on the rear cassette (like 12, 14, 16 up to whatever top ring you can get.. Like a 40 or something), due to the teeth on the chainring, but I've looked at my new (standard) chainring and the way the dirt has discoloured the teeth, it looks like it could run a narrow-wide without any problems?

I dunno if this is the right forum to ask this kinda question on but I know a few of you guys know a fair bit about everything and have helped me out in the past so I though I'd give it a shot! :)

    Cheers in advance

  4. Hey guys!

I've got my hands on some cheap second hand Marzocchi Bomber 140mm travel air adjust forks (estimated 2009 model, black legs, black stantions, anodised red lock out lever, 15mm bolt through) for a new bike I'm building but they are a bit gash and a bit old and they don't feel as nice as I reckon they could be.. I'd upload a photo if I could but it'd either be huge or terrible quality! ;)

I'm wanting to change the oil in them and maybe have a look into servicing them, but I've never taken forks apart before and don't really know the deal with servicing them.

What I'm wanting to know is how to drain the oil out and how difficult it is to strip them further if I'm feeling keen!

Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

  5. May get some stick, because it's "a sh*ty Halfords bike"! But, in its defence, it's one of the best mtbs I've ever had!

    Carrera Fury

    SR Suntour Raidon 120mm forks

Hope/DT Swiss wheels wrapped in Conti Rubber Queens

Full SLX 2x10 drivetrain with Shadow+ rear mech and bash ring

    DMR V8s

Avid Elixir 1 brakes (soon to be upgraded)

Everything else is standard except a Hope QR seatclamp and Hope bar ends (not pictured)

I have got other bikes, including stickerbombed roady with flat bars, an Octane One dirt jumps bike and a few trials bikes but the Fury is the one I thought had more significance in this thread.

Tell me what you think! :)

  6. Problem solved! I thought it would have something to do with it being too low! It does fowl on the mech in 1x6 onwards, but the chain starts to run crossed and I always try not to run it crossed if I can help it!

Thanks for clearing it up guys! :)

  7. Aye I thought it might have been sitting a bit low.. But if I bring it any higher, the chain fouls on the bottom of the mech in the lower rear gears.. If you get me? I dunno if that's just because of the setup but it rubs like hell on the front mech if its any higher! I'll have a try with it a bit higher and see how it goes! :)

  8. This is what I've got it set up as. A you can see, if it was to pull up over, it would foul out on the bashring.

I've never really set a 2x10 up so I've probably just done something wrong?

Sorry if the pictures are a bit big, they're straight off my camera!

  9. I've just upgraded my bike to SLX 2x10 with both front and rear derailleurs changed and the chain set changed to the 2x10 with bashring. Everything's fine on the back end of the bike, but the front gears won't change up to the top ring because the mech is hitting on the bashring. I've tried adjusting both limit screws, the height and the angle of the mech and I can't make it change to the top ring. It's as if the bashring is preventing it from getting the full swing?

Anyone got any clues? Any advice is greatly aprieciated!

  10. One of my mate's works in a charity shop and has recently bought this and brought it to me to have a look at. I'm not exactly clued up on old bikes but I thought someone on here might be!

I'm just wanting to know what it is and when, if possible, the year it was made!

    Thanks in advance guys

  11. I'll get some new forks in the future, just not yet! Kinda waiting till they snap.. I'm sure my face will aprieciate this! ;P

I'm going 200mm front disk shortly too, just need to save up! I already have a 180 on it but its a bit sloppy and the brake itself is gash.. So I'm getting rid and starting a fresh!
