  1. That's silly. Trials is mostly mental? Don't think so.

    90% Technique

    6% having the balls

    4% strength

Of corse it depends on  the type of riding you do, but trials is mostly about technique.

Surely having the balls is mental.

You need to believe you can do something (or not kill yourself trying) to attempt it.

It's mostly technique until you have a move perfected then it's about strength.

  2. I don't see why people bother doing that, when you can simply screw the limit screw in to hold the mech in place.  Much simpler and less fiddly.  If the bolt isn't long enough (i.e. your sprocket is way over near the spokes), then get a longer bolt.

I tried doing that and got a longer bolt, but the way the limit screw works means you can only adjust it so far. Using a bit of cable means you can adjust the whole range of the mech (Y)

  3. perhaps your right i will crash, in which case ill let you all know and you can laugh at me  :)

    Aslong as you're not dead.

Remember, if you crash you could easily take out some innocent bystander, and you don't want to live with that for the rest of your life. Don't drive like a dick and become another statistic.

  4. Anyway we went to halfords and found some 3.2mm washer hose for £2.99

Washer hose? As in car windscreen washers?

If so I think the hose isn't heavy duty enough for maguras. From my experience it's pretty flexy stuff. The pressure could be causing the hose to expand once the brake is locked on whioch would give it a spongey feel.

I could be totally wrong but it's just a thought...

  5. There's some Highway code stuff here.

The only bit I could see about the actual bike is:

    1. Choosing and maintaining your bicycle

    Make sure that

you choose the right size of cycle for comfort and safety

lights and reflectors are kept clean and in good working order

tyres are in good condition and inflated to the pressure shown on the tyre

    gears are working correctly

the chain is properly adjusted and oiled

the saddle and handlebars are adjusted to the correct height.

    You MUST

    ensure your brakes are efficient

at night, use lit front and rear lights and have an efficient red rear reflector.

  6. They're supposed to be 12% stronger (or something like that) than Kool chains, which can't be a bad thing. If they're designed for grinding they should take some abuse.

I think Tarty's running one and I haven't heard him complaining.

  7. I've had a set of Octalink cranks and bb lying in my garage for a while, I decided to put them on a bike but I couldn't find the non-driveside cup. Nevermind, I thought, any old Shimano cup will fit, but nothing is ever that simple. Now I'm left with a perfectly good set of cranks and bb but I'm missing that one vital bit.

I could go and buy another octalink bb but that seems like a bit of a waste of money. So, anyone know where I could get a cup or any other cups that I could get cheaply that would fit?

  8. Sounds like theres an underlying problem, bleed the brake maybe?

    Tried that yet?

Tar gives a different feel to a grind. With tar the brake is on or off, when it's on it'll stick. With a grind there's much more modulation and if you're not on something enough you'll slip off.

You're not gonna get the same feel with a grind as you do with tar. That could be your problem.

  9. You can enjoy candlelight suppers in microgravity, such as on the International Space Station. As long as there's oxygen, candles will just burn differently.

On Earth, buoyant convection turns a candle flame teardrop-shaped and carries soot to the flame's tip, making it yellow. In microgravity, where convective flows are absent, the flame is spherical, soot-free and clear blue. And candles in space last longer, due to the slower delivery of oxygen through diffusion.

The only drawback is dodging the occasional floating balls of liquid candlewax!

    How about that.
